The Fireman Finish

Years ago, Fireman and I had dinner at a culinary institute.
The students were creating chocolate bowls using balloons as forms.  Fireman laughed and said, he could make those.

I've been reminding him for years, about those bowls he said he could make.

This year for Valentine's Day he finally made them for me.
He did not think they came out as well as he would have liked.
I thought they were great.  He can say he finished that goal.

Fireman got a call this morning on his cell phone.
It was from a number we don't recognize.
"This is mom, give me a call" was the voice message.

Since his mom is passed and my mom has Alzheimer's
I took a strange joy in hearing even the wrong mother say,
"this is MOM"
am I strange or what?
I've been thinking about asking any of you who are praying persons to say one for my mom.....would you?

Today's plan: keep knitting the 500 stitch scarf.

I am a "praying person" and have said one for your mom. Alzheimer's disease is so difficult, especially for family. I have a sister-in-law who has it and know first-hand of the problems.
Love and hugs to you and her.

Oh, I will definitely say a prayer for you mom. So sorry to hear you and your family are dealing with that. Looks like your hubby did a fantastic job on the chocolate bowls! What a neat idea. And, no, I am not making the Trap scarf. The pattern I'm using is the Baktus Scarf, but they may be the same as it's a very simple pattern. Simple, except I managed to flub it up royally. I have set mine aside for now because it looks awful. I'm going to have to start over at some point. I have too much pride to keep on making it when it looks so bad. (It looks worse on one side than the other)

I will keep you and your Mom in my prayers. Having lived through so much with my own Mom, and now my Dad it just isn't easy. Good for Fireman making the bowl, he is a keeper.
Hugs,

I'm impressed with your guy making a chocolate bowl, bravo to him! We lost my husband's father and my mother to Alzheimers, so I can totally relate to what you're going through. I will send positive thoughts to your mom right now. My mom was rather mean in her last years so I have to really try hard to remember the good times. I work at it. ((hugs)), Teresa

Alzheimer's is such an ugly disease. Saying a prayer for your Mom AND for you.

Fireman did a good job on his chiclate bowl.

Prayers coming your way. Alzheimer''s is much harder on the caregiver than the patient. God Bless every one of the nurses and CNAs who work in those care facilities AND the families who ultimately lose their loved ones twice - once to the disease and the finally to death.

I had no idea your mom had Alzheimer's. It is such a heartbreak watching them decline this way. She's got my prayer and I know Daddio is still riding on yours!

Your Mom is in my prayers and so are you. Any person who loves and supports a parent or family member with Alzheimer's is an angel and a hero in my book!!

Fireman, you did good! Anyway, it doesn't matter what chocolate looks like--only that is is chocolate.

Have just said a prayer for your Mom and for you. Mr. M's mom has dementia. It breaks my heart to hear him on the phone with her, saying simple things and asking simple questions to which she can't respond. Then he tells her he loves her and hangs up. That's all you can do. Keep telling her you love her.

Nice work, Fireman!

I just finished a 300+ stitch scarf. In very fine yarn. Some of the longest rows of my life.
