Day 17, 2015 Fender Bender

How come when you tell others that it is just an accident and that is what insurance is for,  you mean it, but when you did the accident  you can't just say that to yourself?

Just a fender bender.  I backed out with Firemans NEW truck into a parked truck on the street.  Minimal damage.  The truck driver wasn't even in the truck at the time. No one hurt.
Ouch.

I start shaking like a silly leaf when these things occur.
I know that the most important thing is that no one even got hurt one little bit, but I go all goofy.
My dear new best friend, well second best, my American Family Insurance claims rep. BEN, kept telling me,
"You're doing fine, You're doing great"
as I kept saying, "wait let me think I'm shaking."

My other new bestie is the sweet policeman who did NOT issue me a ticket.  He couldn't have been nicer.

Fireman was a doll about it all.
I was almost too exhausted to knit last night.
But I put the needles in my hands and finished the back of the toddler vest I'm knitting.
And...I love it.

I think I traveled exclusively by foot and canoe in my past life.
They are my favorite means of transportation.

I am the queen of fender-benders! I've never hurt anyone, but I apparently don't have the best depth perception!

Bless your heart. Fender benders can be scary! Glad it wasn't any worse than it was.

Of course you were shaking, I have had a few myself and always go to jelly mode in my legs, with my heart racing out of my chest. Just to make you feel better, one time I hit a fire hydrant by clipping a corner, there was no curb and the nut on the hydrant caught my door and well it looked like Edward Scissorhands took a swipe out of it. I was going about 3 miles an hour and didn't hear it as my music was so loud. I also backed out of my garage with the back door open once, see we all have our episodes.
Hugs and knit my friend,
Meredith
It's a simple fact of life, humans are accident prone creatures. We get just the tiny bit distracted and crap happens. I don't want to tell you how many times I've scraped a post pulling into a parking spot in the underground at work! Or the fact that I backed Dave's van into a pole about 10 minutes before my driver's test! As long as no one is hurt, everything is good. Vehicles can be fixed, and a nice cup of tea and hot bath settles those nerves!

Glad you and the vehicles are all okay. That's what counts. l've done that a time or two, and you're right, it's scary and causes the shakes, but tea and knitting soon takes care of that!

Sorry to hear about your accident and relieved that no one was injured.

The vest is going to be darling.

I have never had a fender bender but I know I would shake and probably not be able to remember my name for police and insurance purposes. I did have an accident with two ski poles like those in the picture. I was cross country skiing and I stopped and planted my poles in the snow, but I left my left wrist in the strap. Then I slipped and fell, dislocating my left shoulder. It still hurts 30 years later!

Oh goodness! I'm so glad you're okay and everyone was nice about it... as they should be. I have a cowl to finish for Wondervet today, right after church, a dog walk at the firehouse, yoga...

I know we are our own worst enemies sometimes. I totally get it.
