When Swaps Rock

Kim at handeyecrafts had a seasonal swap.
It was very fun.
I won't show you my swap that I sent to my person because she hasn't received it yet.

Yesterday, I got mine in the mail.
Teabird17.blogspot
is a retired librarian and a spinner.

She sent me her handspun yarn!
She sent magnet page clips and she sent
darling fox notepads and mini purse.

Perhaps the reason I keep frogging is that I need to knit some fingerless with that handspun asap!
She suggested fingerless and so it is, or maybe it is a hat...see here I go again.

I am just a mini mess about my knitting lately.
I cast on, I knit for a bit, I rip it out.
I don't let it bother me.
The yarn and I just haven't talked enough yet I guess.

I'm under no deadlines.
I'm retired .....ahhhhh, I say that many times a day and smile each time.

Lets see:
Today's I'm ripping out the last Attempt with the Sheep and wool yarn.  I love the Ridged Wrap pattern but this is not they yarn for it.  How lovely that yarn is and forgiving. It rewinds perfectly as if I haven't played with it 3 times yet!

I'm ripping out the Seaman's scarf with Liberty wool that I worked on during the Hawks game last night...It is not right for that yarn either...

and the socks I started a week ago.....meh.  They aren't going to be socks either.

Is it the time change?
Is it the change in weather?

Whatever!  We shall knit no wine before its time...

maybe just maybe its the wine...

What a lovely gift! The hand-spun yarn is gorgeous. I sure could see some great looking fingerless mitts made from that hank!

The hand-spun is beautiful. You are a lucky giftee! I wish I could be a frogger like you. I stop knitting on a project and just never start again, but I tell myself I will someday. I fib to myself a lot! Then later I have to go to the bin of sadly forsaken projects and reclaim needles for a new project which will hopefully be completed. I do have one sleeve finished on the sweater but I had to scrounge for needles to do it.

I'm so glad you like your thingies! It was so much fun to put it all together for you.

You'll soon see that knowing teabird is a gift in itself. . .

My mother thought me silly, but I've always felt that yarns and patterns have to want to work together. Of all the knitters I know, and have known, my "twin," Kim in Oregon, is the best at matching yarn to pattern. It's rather astounding.

Great swap gifts!

Keep frogging until the yarn AND the knitter are in sync.

Whatever you make of this pretty yarn is bound to be lovely. Have fun with it, you lucky one!

Loving the handspun, and like others on here, I think it would make beautiful fingerless mitts. Fingerless mitts are my "go-to" project, when I'm bored with everything else. Probably because you can knit them up pretty fast, but like you say, the yarn has to fit the project or else it just doesn't feel right. You'll find the perfect to knit with your new yarn!

It takes a lot of courage to frog once you've got something going but more often than not it's the right thing to do. If you're not feeling a project it just turns into a UFO that makes you feel bad every time you thing about it. I've certainly got a few gathering dust.
Handspun is fun to knit with because it has a mind of it's own. Just don't get too fancy with the stitches. It likes to be the center of attention.

You're a better knitter by ripping. I'm a firm believer that the yarn knows what it wants to be. Have you tried making a Honey Cowl with the Liberty? I've made a couple with the yarn and it worked out well with the colors!

Retirement? Enjoy, Kathy, but brace yourself for having no problem keeping busy with self imposed deadlines :) I am off to work on one of mine...knitting another bunny for another grandson :) xx

good golly, that's a whole lot of ripping you got going there. Hope it ends and you find your happiness with the yarn paired with a the perfect pattern.

I know how that goes Kathy, the ripping, the fussing. But it's got to feel right, right?

Your swap gift is TOO cute. Enjoy!

What a great swap package!! I always enjoy swaps, but simply cannot commit to anything extra until I regain control of my life. Instead, I'll just visit your blog and live vicariously!
