Very Virginia Visit

Pull up a chair and set a spell.....I've so much to tell.
Fireman and I spent Colombus Day weekend In Charlottesville with Al and Nathan....and CHANNON and Mark and Sissy and Gg.

I'm crazy about Channon.  We met for the first time last year.
Pretend friends rock and their husbands and fur babies do too.
This year we got to meet the puppies and Mark.

Sissy was so BAYful and full of personality.
Little Gg was lucky I did not put her in my purse and take her home.

We had a memorable dinner at Shadwells.
Um, Channon very much encouraged me to share a chocolate pecan pie with vanilla ice cream , dessert.
This was after a wonderful meal.
It was a sweet ending to an even sweeter meet up.

Channon gifted me a very beautiful book about Charlottesville and local farmers.  I love it. I treasure it.  Al wanted to steal it.
This is Deb from the Blenheim Vineyards holding my new Trap at our wine tasting.
It took me 54 years to go to a wine tasting....
oh it was fun!
The Vineyards in the Blue Ridge Mountains are so pretty!
We went to 4 vineyards in 6 hours.
More on that in another post.
We did not get into the Needle Lady shop in the downtown mall of C'ville this time.  As luck would have it, Fireman and I had some time to kill on the way back to Dullas, and guess what ...
we found a yarn shop in Culpepper.  More about THAT in another post.  I do love the shawl in the picture above.
Nathan and I rode together and Al and Her Daddy drove together to the 4 vineyards.  The fog in and out of the mountains was really spectacular. Colors are area turning up in the foothills.
Knitting focused on the Red and Brown Trap alternating with my
Modular wrap.  Here is al fixing my dropped stitch with the needles on the other project.  Ahhh, my girl still has it!
She has little time to knit while in NP school.
The Cover of the lovely book Channon gifted me.  By the way, did I mention how good the fresh warm baguettes at the KING winery were?  Ahhhhhhhhhh.  Amazing.
I have so much more to tell and I'm behind on my comments to your blogs.  I'll leave you on this note: on our way to Dullas yesterday, we passed the Cheesecake Heaven stand.
It was OPEN.
It beckoned us.
Yup , Snickers Cheesecake for the light afternoon preflight snack...
Very Virginia.

The Commonwealth ROCKS.
Have you been to Virgnia?

Sounds like a wonderful trip and meet up with the best of the best. You are among an honored few who have met The great Diva Sissy and sweet little Gg! So glad you had fun wine tasting. We have been several times in the Hill Country of Texas and it is great fun. We've met some amazing people while wine tasting.

I love the colors in your Trap. The color of Al's hair and Channon's is almost the same (at least in the pictures) and a very pretty color it is!

I was born in Virginia but memories of it are hazy because we moved to Arizona when I was 5 years-old. After all the places we lived in our lives, my mother never lost her soft southern accent.

Wow, this post is FULL of teasers for future posts. I'm going to hold you to every one of them!

Love the photo of you and Chan. I hope you got photos of the fur-girls, too.

Sounds like you two are doing a bit of traveling, too! We've been to VA but never to Charlotteville, and it's been quite a while ago. Glad you had a good trip!

Wow I look like I'd been to 10 vineyards and I didn't go to any. I'm so glad you love the Commonwealth and we look forward to seeing you again. It was so much fun dining with you. Send me Al's address and a book will find her. I have extras.
Looks like a wonderful trip. Mom and I drove from Ontario to Williamsburg Virginia last summer. And while it was hotter than Hades - it was amazing! Such a wonderful state!

That reminds me I need to head up to the hills to see the leaves before they are all gone and get some more apples if there are any left. I love that shawl in the window. It looks like a wispy cloud that should be floating over one of those beautiful mountains. That Trap is going to be sooooo pretty. I love those colors.
