A LIttle Bit of This and That

Friend Abby tried her hand at entrelac.
It wasn't her thing.  She was going to rip this out and I suggested she use it as a hot pad.
She could also fold it in half and make it a Book/Nook Cover.
She could also seam three of the sides and make it an eyeglass case.
Dont' you think?
 This is my garter cowl.
I'm into the navy and loving it.
It will be 2/3rds navy and 1/3 wheat.
The i cord edging will be aqua.
Miss Pie is now pretty brown.
I think this is due to her sunbathing on the screened porch all summer long.  She's kind of a mink.

Busy weekend, fun plans.
My veterinarian sister and her husband and the dogs will visit.
Sunday is a family party with Fireman's side for 3 great nieces and nephews.  Birthday fun.
Our weather is ideal: high 70s all week and no rain.
More of the same next week.
We feel kind of entitled around here due to our miserable winters…
We appreciate great weather ..whenever

I began reading Brain on Fire Yesterday.
Not sure I'm going to be able to stick with it; it is very intense.
It may hit a bit too close to home.
I'll keep you posted.

What are you knit/weekend/reading Plans?

That's a gorgeous brown Miss Pie has grown into.

I read "Brain on Fire" not too terribly long ago; it was fascinating.

I am knitting an infinity scarf for a SIL who will be 50 in January. A few friends and relatives have significant birthdays coming up--my sister who had Non-Hodgkin's will be celebrating in the next yr too. (Though today she was not exactly celebrating because she and my niece got caught up in chaos at the airport because of the fire at the radar local in Aurora. They will be late getting home).

Darling cowl.
I have been looking for a sweater to knit for myself--I do have an Irish Aran sweater kit so perhaps I should do that so I can wear in March.
Haha - I noticed that Tux was looking a little on the reddish-brown side too. Must be the dun - they love it so much!

Supposed to be nice and sunny all weekend here - I'll be spending it outside if I can!

I love the cowl colors and look forward to seeing it finished.

Little Pie is beautiful!

Planning a weekend of knitting the Blanket Sweater, listening to 13 Hours in Benghazi on audiobook, and enjoying some cooler weather in Texas--at last. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

I love the cowl. What a stunning combination of colors!

I'm a bit afraid of "Brain on Fire." It sounds like such a terrifying experience. Let us know what you think.

You are truckin' on that cowl! I can't wait to see it with the i-cord edging. I think the navy and wheat together are lovely.

And everyone loves Pie!

Miss Pie is adorable and SO shiny!!!

We have an interesting Saturday planned. One of my friends from elementary school is visiting Disney and we are meeting for lunch along w/a mutual friend of ours that recently moved here.

Mike, Mary, Faith and I met in elementary. Mike recently moved about two miles from me and Mary is visiting from Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, Faith lives all the way out in Hawaii so we don't get to see her this time. :-(

I've always wanted to try entrelac. That little sample looks mighty nice.
I love the cowl which reminds me that I really love the one I own and now wonder why I haven't made more.

Pie is gorgeous, I love that her fur has turned into a beautiful mink color. She looks like the finest dark chocolate. That book does sound intense, let us know what you think. We are hanging out this weekend, I am sick of driving so Little B and I will be outside working on the plants, well I will be he will be walking around on with his walker.
Hugs and have fun,
Meredith

Enjoy your visit with your sister and family.

I'm working on a cowl, too, but mine is stockinette - round and round and round.

I love entrelac! I'm glad you saved it from the frogpond.

Enjoy your guests and a fun-filled weekend.

I don't read things that hit too close to home. I just can't.

Pie's color is beautiful! Sometimes books are just hard to follow. You just gotta know when to say, "I gave it a go, but now it's time to move on."

Hi Kathy!
(Doh, just lost my entire comment!)
Your friend's entrelac looks lovely and was worth saving and finding a good use for! (Was that Noro wool by any chance?)
Your project looks great, coming along nicely. I just started on something similar this Friday, with lovely variegated yarn, only to do a lot of frogging sitting in the car today (things did not go according to plan!)
Our black cat is also a bit brown!
I'm currently reading this: www.amazon.co.uk/Ghost-Girl-Detectives-Daughter-2-ebook/dp/B00G1SW526/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1411937284&sr=1-2&keywords=the+detectives+daughter
which is great, I also enjoyed the first book.
Happy knitting!

Good suggestions for the entrelac project. I think they would all work!
