Summer Reading and Summer Knitting

Our transplanted Rose Of Sharon is in bloom.
She's right on time.
We don't get many blooming trees in late summer in Chicago; Rose of Sharon bushes don't start until the end of July.
They are a welcome sight for humans and bees alike.
The heather is blooming too.  So delicate…..so wispy.   The bees are all over the tiny blossoms.
Some of our best blog posts are about reading.
I just finished ON FIRE by Larry Brown.
Kathy C, a knit buddy, gave it to me.
I love the short chapters.
I love the way Larry Brown talks to his reader.
This is a great read.
Not for the faint of heart.
I am knitting a baby sweater but it isn't this one.
The Zimmerman sweater is darling but my knit nurse pal Diane says she has modified the pattern for the better.

I'm just knitting a top down baby cardigan.
I'll show it to you soon.

What are you reading?

Ooh, I'm eager to hear more about Diane's modifications to EZ's BSJ. Do share. . .

How's Zach doing in Mexico?

Your flower photos are lovely. I love late summer blooms - like glads, asters, etc.

I would love to see Diane's baby jacket pattern! I still have not knit the Zimmerman jacket and I always opt for easier.

Currently reading The Empty Quarter by David L. Robbins. It's lots of covert ops stuff.

Love those flowers! I, too, would love to hear what the surprise sweater modifications are. I am just about finished with The Vacationers by Emma Straub. It's good.

Your Rose of Sharon is beautiful. It reminds me of a hibiscus plant.

I am reading: You Can Buy Happiness (and it's cheap) by Tammy Strobel. It's about downsizing. So far, it's pretty good. Next up is: Coop by Michael Perry Summer reading is definitely going on at my house.

I'm reading A Bookman's Tale: a novel of obsession. I just got started, but so far, I'm loving it.

The Rose of Sharon is beautiful. Love that picture. And the heather must be fantastic in the garden!

I have made a couple Zimmerman baby sweaters; they are easy and cute.

I'm contemplating an EZ BSJ for myself. Hmmm.... I have no idea why I would because I never wear ANY of the sweaters I've made... only the shawls! I look forward to seeing your baby sweater! blessings ~ tanna
