Steps before Stitches

 Around my neighborhood at sunset,
You'll see and hear a small group of Crows fussing about.
I am thrilled to hear them and see them thriving.
The Crows and the black capped chickadees took a huge hit to their populations when West Nile Virus came with mosquitos in 2001 and 2002.
Many birds died.
Some people also suffered and died from West Nile.
We did not hear or see chickadees for a few years.
They regrouped in the woods and slowly came back to our yards.
This neighbor's house has beautiful flowers at their door.
Everywhere you look, gardens are thriving.  Colors are bright and bushy.
Even the cement is pretty, thanks to artistic children playing on the cement canvas.
One family clearly had  a good idea for preventing car crashes into the pole at the end of their driveway.   Strategically placed rubber tires come between bumper and pole at the driveways sharp turn to the street.   Ahhh an ounce of prevention.

THat's what I saw when I racked up my steps tonight.
Now that my steps are logged, I can start to stitch.

I've started that exact same plan ...no stitching until I've walked my 30 minutes.

Those petunias in the flower bowl are beautiful!

I'm not a fan of crows. Several years ago thousands of them ascended on my town. They were a nuisance for weeks. I don't miss them.

A murder of crows!

Doesn't it seem like winter was yesterday?

The Chickadees are my favorite! I love sidewalk art. One of our neighbors was disgruntled because the neighborhood kids were drawing on the sidewalk. He wanted to "put a stop to it" and could not believe that I actually liked it.

I have a desire to get my walking completed. But I keep finding excuses! Maybe today?? I'm very proud of your efforts, though. Way to go!!

Stitching time is limited at my house, so is stepping time. I do need to get off my butt and get moving, maybe I should buy a pedometer.
By the way, make the garter stitch sweater.
Hugs,
Meredith
Those are some lovely sites along your walking route - I bought a new pair of walking shoes - plan to get out and do a lot more walking!

On Thursday, Pup will have the all clear from the vet to start walking again. I can't wait! We've all been cooped up too long.

Nice job on the walk-photos! We have chickadees here, too; they are so cute. Anxious to see your garter sweater.

Love the walk photos. I would return the favor, but I'm pretty sure you don't want photos of my phone going airborne as Sissy lunges for deer/horses/whatever or of Gretchen rubbing herself in the lush grass while Sissy glares at her for slowing us up...
