Lights and Sirens

 Not much knitting content today.
When I was on my way home from work at midnight last night,
I noticed ambulance lights in my rear view mirror so
I pulled to the right for Sirens and Lights.
Funny thing was, the lights pulled over with me.
It was a police car, not an ambulance, pulling me over.

I had a difficult night at work.
I was exhausted.
I rolled down my window, gave the police officer, who looked SO young by the way, my hospital ID and said,
"I just came off a terrible shift.  What did I do wrong?"

The officer looked at my ID with is flashlight and said,
"Your lights are not on"

"Ugh, Im not surprised, I'm sorry"

He said, "Do you have your license and registration?"
Of course I did.
I had them in a flash.
"Im just going to run your license, ma'am" he said.

Then he came back, handed me my license and said,
"next time turn your lights on, you have a good night"

I want to tell you all that I have NEVER had a bad experience with a police officer.
Never.
I don't have that many interactions, mind you, but when I do they are positive.
I treat them with respect, because I respect them.
I would never want their job.

(a little knitting content:
I love this knitted wristlet.
I'll post the pattern if people are interested.)

Oh my goodness, you forgot to turn your lights on? I suppose it's a good thing you got a "reminder" from the officer; and I'm glad to hear that you've never had a bad experience. It seems the cops with bad behavior get more attention, sadly.

Say, that is a cute flag cuff!

i'M GLAD THAT HE STOPPED YOU. IT KEPT YOU SAFE AND POSSIBILY PREVENTED AN ACCIDENT. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF TODAY!
GETTING SO DARK IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD TIME FOR A NAP, WITH A CAT OR 2 OF COURSE.

I share your thoughts about policemen. I've been pulled over a few times and have found honesty is met with respect. They have a thankless job, but we so desperately need them. God Bless those who serve and protect!

I'm sorry it's been rough, but I'm glad you are safe and had another good interaction with the police officer. I'm wishing you a better day. I like the wristlet!

I've done that before. Now I seem to always be forgetting to turn my lights off. The Mister is not going to be amused when I run the battery down.
Love the cuff!

So sorry for your tough night and so glad you are safe and the officer treated you well. I was stopped for not putting my lights on once [not after a hard shift] and the officer treated me in the same manner.
Hope you are getting well rested today, Kathy xx

Glad it all worked out ....I agree, most cops really only have our best interests at heart and while it's not fun to be pulled over .....it's usually because we "needed" it.

Respect goes a long way with everyone, and especially with law enforcement.
