Are You An Imperfectionist?

 Hello tiny daffodils.
They were gifted to me this weekend by a great gardener who also is a neighbor.
Clever photography is hiding some glaring mistakes in this finished shawl.

This one's for me , because of the flaws.
I had thoughts of lining the back with flannel, but I think it would destroy the drape.

I frustrate myself when I discover mistakes after I've cast off.
After all, this would have made a lovely gift.

Onward.
I would rather wear it hiding the flaws in a knot, than
rip it all out and start over.

Do you work with inevitable flaws or, (Karen?) do you
frog early and often???

Lovely gift of daffodils! Sweet!

Very pretty shawl...and I had to laugh. Yes, I have been known to find a mistake too late, or let it go because I was going to keep it and wear it, and no one would know the difference. However, if I see a mistake on time...or if it is terribly glaring...I get frustrated, frog it, and tell myself I'll be happier about it in the end. And I am.
They are not mistakes! They are design features!

Besides - that's the beauty of hand-made.

I like what Wanderingcatstudio has to say! I think it really depends on how bad the flaws are and my level of lazy. I cast off, non symmetrically half way through with a different color because I had already backed out my shawl for various reasons too many times during the life of the project. I wanted to be done. I don't really have an intended recipient so it may go to the Elderly Agency for their clothes box.

If the knit item is for myself and I can live with the error, I will not frog. If the error is not glaring and the item is for a non-knitting friend, I will still gift it. Anything else is frogged.

Love the Spring blooms!

No frogging for me, I'm an imperfectionist from the word go. Your shawl is beautiful and I love the imperfections most of all. I certainly don't want to start hiding MY imperfections. That could take a while!

When I was still new-ish to knitting, a friend and ACCOMPLISHED knitter asked me if the "mistake" could be seen from 5 feet away. I said no, and she said it wasn't a problem then. I live by that philosophy now.

Your shawl is quite pretty and I bet you're the only one who sees the flaws.

Our quilt group says, "If it can't be seen from 9 feet on a galloping horse, forget it." Somehow though knitting mistakes really bug me, so if I notice them in time, I frog.

I'm a frogger. Mistakes make me crazy. Even if I think I can live with it, I always end up frogging and re-knitting. The way I feel after I have fixed the boo boo is worth the journey there and back again. That's just me. I don't judge those who can let it go. I admire them.
Love those itty bitty daffodils. I planted some last fall and I can't believe they are coming up in spite of this cold. We will have snow again in the morning. Argh....

It all depends on whether they're obvious. I can live with the oopses as long as no one else notices.

Depends on the flaw. ;)

LOVED the recipe!! Thank you again. Evan and I ate WAY too much and I will be toasting some and slathering it with butter for breakfast! =) blessings ~ tanna
Frog, frog, frog......It's a miracle I ever call it finished.

I am actually a bit of a perfectionist outside of knitting (which has gotten better because my bf is a TOTAL SLOB.) But, I don't know, there's something really cathartic about having the finished shawl and having it NOT be perfect. If it was perfect, it would just be a carbon copy of the pattern you used. Which is good sometimes. But other times it's those little imperfections that make the project yours. Only you would drop that stitch in that place. etc etc. It's very zen... maybe I should blog about it haha.

Absolutely! I hate straight lines and perfect angles! I think that imperfection and personality go hand in hand!

No, I don't frog early or often enough!

If the mistakes are too bad, I keep the item for me, as you do.

However, I have learned that non-knitters can't see many errors, so that helps!

I think your shawl is gorgeous, there are no flaws just design elements.

hugs to you,

I usually don't fix a mistake. I like to think it's because I think no one will notice, but the truth is, I'm lazy.

It all depends. Yesterday I realized I made a goof on a mosaic dishcloth and I just kept going, but I'll keep it to use for myself.

I hate frogging but I've been known to do that and tink or unknit back in some cases if it's not to far to go, but since it's bound off just enjoy it for yourself.
