Planes, Pains and Automobiles…Al isn't home Yest

She knit herself a hat to match the cowl.  Here she is checking flight times and calling in absent to work for the next day.

Tasting snowflakes….

Yesterday we made it to Midway in the snowy slick and she took off in a big airplane into the sky.
She landed in Atlanta to find she missed her connection.
This brave girl had had enough.
She rented a car and is now nearly home in Norfolk.
She spend the night with Nathan's (her boyfriend)
sister in South Carolina.

I tried to only think good positive thoughts.
I would have slept in the airport for a week before I got into a car and drove all that way myself.
Clearly she takes after her dad-

Tonight: Zach flies in from Mexico at 0130a.m.
and I go back to work.
I can drive right over to Ohare after my shift ends…
perfect right?

How's your New Year going?

Al looks gorgeous in her hat and cowl: the color is absolutely perfect for her.

Safe travels to Al and Zach.

I've managed to do a bit of sewing, knitting, and reading, so my New Year is starting off well.

I've been watching the weather as reported on national news, and it looks wicked in the midwest. This last storm...nasty stuff. I don't blame Al for renting a car and getting herself home...way to go! She is a beautiful girl...and quite a knitter! Safe travels for Zach too. Be careful out there!

Oh gosh! I'm sorry she's having so many travel issues. I love her knitted items though.

Oh, I'm hoping everyone gets home super safe. I'm with you and the driving in wonky weather conditions. Though I'm Californian, and honestly half of us can't drive when it drizzles, ha! Here's to a sweet reunion with Zach! And lady, what IS that hat pattern? What a beautiful combination for a beautiful girl!

So great to know that you had a good visit with Al in spite of her traveling challenges, and now you get a visit with your son...a wonderful way to start the New Year! I swam laps on Januarty 1, 2014. And yesterday I helped get most of our Christmas decorations packed away. So now I am trying to focus on the last you notes, and other correspondence, and focus on the commitments I've made for the new year including practicing continental style knitting on a garter stitch blanket I started over a year ago!

Prayers for Al's safe arrival in Virginia! She is beautiful in her hat and cowl. I'm not surprised that she is brave enough to drive home because nurses are warriors and brave as they come! And, if you will drive to O'Hare in that frigid weather at 1:00 in the morning I would say you are a warrior mom/nurse also. Bravery runs in your family!

Hope Al got back safe and sound. Glad your boy is returning home.
Hugs to you,

Getting all your babies back home safe and sound is hard work isn't it. We've got cold and snow here too and I'm just not into it at the moment. I'm thinking that retiring to a warm place isn't actually such a bad idea. As soon as Daddio joins Mom, I'm outta here.

Oh that does NOT sound fun for you OR AL. Hope she finally got home okay.

Our new year has been fairly quiet and I'm okay with that. LOL

All this snow is messing up my life, too! I got rear ended yesterday at a light when someone slid out :(

You just never stop worrying about your kiddos. I'm glad to hear that Al made it to a resting spot. She's a smart and resourceful young woman. I know you are so proud of her. A special prayer that she and Zach make their journeys safely. blessings ~ tanna
