Happy November, Day of the Dead and Zach's Birthday Weekend

Here are 10 Things For November 1st:

*Nothing but issues with my computer.  Not funny TRICKS here at Irisheyes.  Sorry for no pictures today!  A picture-less post is so lacking!

*I carved a crying Newborn Pumpkin.  Used a seed for a tear; it was cute.  Actually thought of it myself.

*Al's shift at the Children's ER all dressed up and I wanted to share her picture.  Blogger isn't allowing it.  ER staff are a rare and wonderful type.

*We go from Halloween to Day of the Dead instantly around here.
I cannot believe we were in Mexico last year with Zach at this time.
Their Day of the Dead Holiday is hard for American's to grasp.
It is a day of love and celebration.  They believe the souls come back to visit their families on the night of November 1.   It is a quiet peaceful beautiful holiday in Mexico.
I am so glad we experienced it with Zach in Mexico
(Nancy: this is my foreign Friday!!! just like you)

*Is it a co incidence that Zach was born on the Day of the Dead?
I don't think so.  We will be celebrating his Birthday this weekend.
I'm off to pick up his Tiramisu cake now.  There will be Tres Leches cake as well.  I love my son so very much.  I cannot begin to tell you how much he has taught me in his short life....

*Knitting!  Oh knitting. I'm making Fireman some socks.  I'll show you them as soon as the computer cooperates!

*I still have not found the vest pattern I want to knit.  I may be visiting the yarn shops this weekend.   I want a simple pattern.

*I enjoyed more than a few bite sized Charleston Chews on Halloween.  It was my candy of choice this year.

*Congrats to all the Boston Red Sox fans.  Last to first in a year is something Cub fans only dream of ....

and finally
*A long story short.  First time at a casino this week with our Dear old Uncle Bill.  I took twenty dollars and left with 20.09.  I refused to lose yarn money!

You had better luck at the casino than I did last week. Sigh!

ER staffers are an amazing group of people. I experienced that first-hand two weeks ago. They rock!

Happy birthday Zach!! I am so missing the picture of Al in her costume. Bethany didn't get to dress up this year because she is off until Nov. 13th.

I really hope the belief that souls come back to visit family on Nov. 1st is true!!! I need a hug from Carrie!

ER staff are pretty amazing. Tiramisu cake? Amazing. Is that Zach's favorite? I feel you on the love and lessons of having a son. You said it well! Have a fabulous weekend.

It is no coincidence my Son was born on Halloween. I am never losing yarn money, no way. I would sit at the casino and knit. Blogger was acting up on me, too. I didn't get the last 24 hours of posts until a few minutes ago.
Hugs,
Meredith

I love Dia de los Muertos. When I was a teacher we weren't allowed to do Halloween at school but we studied Mexico in social studies so I could use it as a multi-cultural lesson, sugar skulls and all. I cleaned Mom's house for her today in case she comes to take a peek at Daddio. I am also hoping Dear Old Doggie will join me for a snooze . I am going to put her favorite blanket at the foot of the bed-just in case.
