First Snow and the Need to Knit Fasts

I'm very much a year round knitter.  There was a time when I knit holiday gifts like sweet Katherine. Katherine made beautiful fingerless gloves for her whole family this year.

There was a kind of silly

pressure involved in this Holiday knit deadline, for me.

This year I've knit some things I wanted to knit without a specific person in mind, and it is now becoming clear who will get these few finished  knits for Christmas.

Yesterday's remarkably early snow, however, sent a wave of panic over me.  Then I remembered, I am not gift knitting per say this year.

I have to finish the baby poncho started early this summer by a another baby shower date of December 3rd.   I am almost finished with the little by vest and its is darling.   I don't have a baby boy/toddler yet to give it to, but when I do it is going to be really a fun gift to give.

In the "Like Channon" department, I bought a new winter coat from Eddie Bauer and I do need to knit myself a new blue hat. I have the yarn from Kim's friend Kim who was my fall swap partner.

Mostly, however, I want to knit myself the vet with the v neck and reverse shaping now that I understand it; making the childs vest first boosted my courage.

So let it snow.  Let it snow.  Let it snow.  I'm knitting without pressure this Season.   I don't know how Mrs Claus does it every year

Two years ago, I gave up the madness of holiday gift knitting. Now, I knit year round and what comes off of the needles goes wherever it wants to go - gift box, charity, or giveaway.

Have fun with your hat and vest knitting.

A couple of years ago, I started in January, and knit socks for all of my nieces, nephews, and their respective partners - 12 pairs in all! Since I had started early, it was fun.

However, only a few seemed to appreciate it, so if/when I do knit for Christmas, they are the ones who get something. And my husband usually gets something (even if it's yarn and a pattern wrapped up 'cause I was doing other things first!).

Love snow. Love Christmastime. Love knitting.

I really like to knit things that I put away for that moment when someone says, "I would really like to have...." It makes me feel so good to gift a friend or family member with a surprise something they actually want! I've done that with socks for our daughter and hats for grandkids. Such fun!!

I am not knitting this year for Christmas either, that being said, I know myself and will end up knitting something for someone.
And you bet I knit year round, I don't understand the whole it is summer and hot out so I can not knit thing.
Hugs,
Meredith
I said I wasn't going to knit for Christmas this year, but then I looked at my finances.... I don't have a lot of money, but I've got a large stash! let the Christmas knits begin!

I think I'm knitting 1 MAYBE 2 gifts specifically for the holidays. But I'm with you on the knitting for the pleasure of it right now. Snow?? Crazypants.

I am sitting in bed right now with Christmas knitting in my lap. Oh, the pressure....every year I say I am not going to do this and then someone asks for something and off I go.
Snow was forecast for us today but it never showed up. Thank goodness. We've got too many leaves to rake for that nonsense.
