In Which We Talk about Knitting But have no pictures

Senor Boyer gives these suckers to good students.  They are chicken suckers.  They are shaped like a raw roasting chicken.
I don't want to try one.   I"m told they taste sweet with a hint of chili pepper.

If Al every gets to fly home today, (cancelled flights due to our thunderstorms) I am making Ina Garten's Butterflied Chicken for dinner.  Now that's a chicken I will try.

She's also worthy of fresh flowers in the kitchen.

I have no new knitting to show. I can report, however, that the swaps are nearly finished.  We are waiting for Sarah to play next.
Grace has played and the envelope is headed back home to me.
If you haven't seen Nancy 's swap scarf at Wyoming Breezes, head over.  Its great.
Now no one needs to fall over, but I finished a book last night.
Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper was gifted to me by Kathy at Fancy Stitching.   There were several riveting chapters.  Gwen was  unable to get to her cats after 9/11 and that chapter was particularly tough to read.

We do think our pets are like our babies.  We do feel they are family.  I feel for anyone in a disaster who cannot get to their pets.
Has this happened to you?

I have very definite, closed-minded notions about food. Candy and chicken are mutually exclusive.

Thank you for being the kind of woman who aches for those in a disaster, separated from their pets. I'm so grateful that the firehouse's Red Cross shelter includes pets, even horses.

I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to be separated from family pets during a disaster and how terrified the animals must be during that time.

The Fall Swap was fabulous, and I am looking forward to one this Winter.

Being separated from pets during a crisis or disaster is the stuff nightmares are made of!! I can't even imagine and don't want to because I would stay awake all night and watch Macy and Max.

Hope Al makes it home today and your dinner is a lovely family gathering.

I have eaten chocolate grasshoppers but I don't think I want to try chicken nugget lollipops. Pulled pork or barbequed beef lollipops--maybe.

Thank goodness, no. Through all the hurricanes since we've been in Florida, we have NEVER been displaced. Our pets have been able to stay in our house WITH us.

I can't imagine not being able to get back to her cats and knowing they didn't have what they needed. :-(

Hopefully, Saran's swap stuff should arrive soon! It was mailed last Saturday evening. My pretty swap yarn is in time out! I don't usually have any trouble winding a yarn cake, but boy, it fought me all the way. I did win though but figured it needed to wait a bit before I tried to knit with it. Crazy, huh?

I'm so intrigued by the chicken suckers. haha. We have a tradition in our family that whenever The Colonel flies in afternoon, I roast a chicken that first night = Welcome Family Roast Chicken.

The mommy cat in our little feral colony will never come in the house so during the last two hurricanes she had to fend for herself outside much to my distress. I was a wreck until she showed up for a meal safe and sound. I never sleep well in the winter knowing she is out there even though we have three heated huts. She is so terrified of being inside that I have given up trying to get her in but it still makes me crazy.

Loved Homer's Odyssey - one of my favorites!

You know I was involved in the Colorado flood. Well, one of the ways they were able to rescue people from their homes was to rescue their pet as well. They learned that many people in Hurricane Katrina died, because they stayed behind with their pets. I don't know that I could leave my Sammy either.
