A Bear Fight

First things first; first thanks first.  Kim from Handeye and Knitter's Hunk fame sent me a cookie collection for my birthday. Kim thank you so much.  I LOVE cookies.  I dipped into the almond tea cookies last night.....
I intend to enjoy everyone of them and think of you; I did say I'd share with Zach....

I don't have new knitting to show so I'll show you our Chinese Grasses and Coleus.  I love the red tips to the grasses.

FYI : Tonight is 3 Bags Full Class Preview for anyone interested in seeing the knits and talking to the teachers.  I think this is a great idea...

About the bear fight:
My sister who does not read the blog called me last night. Seems she and her hubby were on vacation hiking with the dogs.  Some hikers coming the OTHER way warned them that there was a bear ahead who wasn't moving off the trail.

My sister took the dogs and high tailed it outta there.  My brother in law wanted to see the bear and this lead to a bit of a fight later.

What would you have done?  Have you ever had a fight over each other's comfort levels on vacation????

yes often. I would have been with your sister - taking the dogs back to the car and JB would have been with your BIL - taking the camera to get photos. Men! g

The coleus and grass is beautiful.
Chocolate anything--yum, yum!

I had a heated discussion with DH about him taking our youngest son canoeing in the boundary waters. I was sure they would be eaten by a bear! I was close to being right because they met one swimming past their canoe. I asked what they did and he said they paddled really fast. The bear kept going in the opposite direction. Fortunately!!

Thanks about the info regarding 3 Bags.
I did a late rush hour reverse drive yesterday and I was tired when I got home other wise I would go.
It is a great idea.

Glad you had a wonderful birthday.

It's ALWAYS wise to be cautious around wildlife, especially with pets.

I hate to admit it, but we argue more on vacation than any other time. I think it's all that uninterrupted time together in a confined place. So much for relaxation.... :)

Those cookies look divine!

Steve and I have never had a real argument over anything like that, but I'm definitely the more adventurous one. However, I don't think I would have gotten near two bears going at it.

Discretion IS the better part of valor.

This is the second blog post today where I am commenting about bears. Odd.
As for your sister, I would have hit the idiot over the head with something and drug him back to safety. Men.

I would have been on the side with the hubby - I would want to see the bear! But I do admit that my ideal vacation involves zero deads or injuries due to bear attacks, so I would be talked out of it...

That coleus is so pretty! After almost being kicked by a deer years ago, I steer clear of wildlife, except for birds. A couple of summers ago a man was gored to death by a mountain goat in our nearby mountains; just think what an angry bear could do!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I love the Chinese grass! Your sister was wise to steer clear of the bear with the dogs. Dogs and wildlife are NOT a good mix! Unfortunately we have to deal with bear and many other forms of wild life right here on our own property on a regular basis. But we're always in full agreement on how to deal with them. Most of our arguments are over the TV remote! :-D

Shudder. Like JB and your Fireman, the Knight would have wanted to see what he could see. However... he's very protective of the fur-girls, so I do wonder...

Oh yes. We were in the Badlands S.D. The hubs wanted to get an up-close shot of a buffalo. It was snorting at us. Ugh!
