The Nurse Thing
Summer hours....and all that.
I loved this little dress in the shop window. I think this shade of green looks great on everyone...
(Except maybe a jaundiced baby..
sorry that's the nurse in me again)
I learned how to knit through the back of a knit stitch to twist it yesterday. I read it on a website and they recommend it for a tighter knit. They suggested the stitch for dishcloths. I have to finish some dishrags for Al. I think I'll try it.
I also learned yesterday, that even a blind cat will seek out a patch of sunshine to nap in. Little Pie is pretty amazing. Her bold spirit and her constant purring makes her irresistible. I wish she would eat better/ she needs to grow. Maybe I can fortify her milk to a higher calorie.....oops there goes the nurse in me again.
The nurse in me worried for the neighbor kids shooting off fireworks last night. Unsupervised...much of the time.
My neighbor blew his fingers off his hand with fireworks in the 1970s. He was never the same.
Does your profession/lifework seep into your daily goings about???

I try so hard not to let my professional life blend with my private life but it's hard. For a long time a neighbor thought I am a computer tech because I was always talking about problems with one software program or another. Yep, data entry about sums it up!!
Have you read the book "Homer's Odyssey", by Gwen Cooper? (Yes, I know that book title should be underlined, but I can't figure out how to do it and it is really BUGGING the retired teacher in me!) It is about her raising a blind kitten. Very interesting and sometimes funny. I'm not through with it yet, but am enjoying it. I imagine you would also since you rescue cats.
I love your striped petunias. So patriotic! :-)
THE TEACHER IN ME APPEARS ALL TO OFTEN. A FRIEND AND I WERE VISITING THE FIELD MUSEUM AND HAD TO RESTRAIN EACH OTHER NOT TO TELL THE WAYWARD STUDENTS TO WALK NOT RUN, STOP CLIMBING ON THINGS ETC. MY BROTHER IN LAW ALWAYS WOULD SAY HE KNEW WHEN MY NEPHEWS WERE UP TO SOMETHING BECAUSE HE WOULD HEAR MY TEACHER VOICE APPEAR. HMM, WONDER IF THAT VOICE WOULD WORK ON 2 5 MONTH MONTH OLD KITTENS.
IF PIE GROWS TOO FAST, SHE WILL HAVE TO LEAVE YOU. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.

As a retired teacher and a regular Miss Bossypants, I have a hard time not analyzing the development of the children in the family. I have learned the hard way to bite my tongue.
Oh, that little dress is so precious!! Caught my eye on my sidebar just like it did yours in the shop!! LOL!
I like your idea about an "Ensure" of sorts for little Pie. Hope it works. I think they FEEL the sun... Sunshine on my shoulder... blessings ~ tanna
Pie is eating better!!! I have seen her eat the dry kibble a few times today! THis is big improvement.
She had an immunization the day I took her home..that may have kept her eating down, or the stress of moving .....even a good change can be a stressor!
I think you are right about the sage green looking nice on nearly everyone - the dress is adorable.
Your 'tunias a lovely; have you seen the pink and green edged ones?
Love the peppermint-looking petunias.
And yes, I have moved "shelter in place", "chain of command" and other fire service terms into the JLC vernacular.
At work yesterday they had a sign up explaining Chain of Command...really ?? For nurses?? please
