Summer Flies .....2013
* Inspired by these paddle boarders, Fireman and I took the kayaks down to Lake Michigan this morning and Paddled. It was calm and lovely and then the flies woke up...
When I'm flying along in my knitting I often drop a stitch. Karen showed me her FIX A STITCH tool. It is great for picking up purls. I'm fine with picking up knits, but not so great at purls.
Karen is finishing her Summer Flies shawl from last year, now. She was almost at the finish when she put it down last summer. Funny how some projects need to be knit in just the right season.
Have you read Lord of the Flies? Do you remember Piggy? It is a classic study of human nature....it is not light summer reading.
How are the flies by you?

Love that pank. Maybe I need a summer flies?
I would love to try paddle boarding or kayaking, but must wait until the summer storm season is over.
Horse flies and deer flies' bites are worse than mosquitos: they leave huge welts. Ouch!
Summer Flies is on my knitting "to do" list and yes I agree about that seasonal thing. Knitting my ski sweater in the summer seems all wrong. It would be in time out if it weren't for the winter Olympics on the horizon.
Kayaking sounds like such fun!
Haven't read Lord of the Flies since my teens - once was enough. I like happy books. :)
We've had so much rain that even the skeeters aren't hatching.
