Ten Ways to Get Inspired

*The easiest way for me to get inspired is to visit my Local Knit shop.  Three Bags Full in Northbrook has some beautiful samples on display.  This is Winnowing by Flood in the Yarn Flaxen.  The pattern in available on Ravelry for a small sum.  "It' s a lot of knitting" was Kathy S's comment on the process.
I think it is stunning....somedays I want a lot of knitting...
most days that is!
*A very close second way is to meet up with knit friends and see what they are working on.
*Touching the yarns at shops usually surprises me.  If I like how it feels I'm usually sold.
*Switching up colors inspires me. Purple and Aqua are so IN this year.  This purple top is knit in the Berrocco skeins hung above the neckline.
*Same yarn, totally different look above.  It inspires me for the drape of it.  Drape inspires me!
*Buying some sale yarn always inspires me.  The Lorna's Laces sock yarn above stole my heart.  I cast on last night....

*Reading my blog buddies works in progress also inspires me. I may not pick the same pattern by my eye delights in seeing what you are doing.

*New babies.  Enough said. They inspire deadline knitting....

*Ravelry new patterns inspire me.  I can meander through the daily new pattern offerings any time day or night and get inspired.

and finally:

*New needles inspire me.  As much as I hate paying for them, when those wooden babies start to give a bit beneath my grip, I am always happy.

What inspires your knitting lately???

Love the Teddy header!

My knitting isn't inspired at all of late. I am almost finished a very special project that I won't be able to blog until I hand it off... hopefully on May 22nd. It inspires me greatly, because it is a going away (and do come back) gift for a dear friend who is moving (thanks Air Force) across the country.

I agree 3 Bags does allow ones ideas to come out. I love the store.

Looking and feeling my way through a yarn store is a great inspiration. I find that if the store has knit-up items displayed, and if one of them catches my eye, I'll be buying yarn for sure! I also find inspiration in what others are knitting...either through our Tues. night knitting group or these wonderful blogs.

I think I would be inspired if that was my local yarn store, beautiful place. Blogs inspire me, new yarn, Pinterest really inspires me, knitting magazines and that about sums it up.

Hugs,
Meredith

I've been away from shawl knitting for a while but the sample shawl in your photo could inspire me to get back to it! I feel like my needles have been "fighting" me a bit lately and I'm thinking I need a whole new set of needles. Recommendations are appreciated!!

Seeing displays of knit items in a yarn shop is true inspiration, but sadly there are no yarn shops in this area. Thus, my inspiration comes from my friends' projects, magazines, and online through blogs and websites.

You! Your posts inspire me. You and all those other lovely knitting bloggers that share their WIPs and recipes and daily adventures. And yes babies. They keep interrupting my "to do queue". I have a cardigan and a shrug on the near horizon ...

What inspires me? Sale yarn, soft yarn, sock yarn, color, new patterns, pretty needles, sparkly yarn and pretty much anything with babies, puppies or kitties! You're part of this list too, you always inspire!

LOL! ALL of the above, Kathy! I'm addicted to the color and feel of yarn. ;) That Lorna's Lace you got is gorgeous! Look forward to seeing what you are making. blessings ~ tanna
ps I've told my daughter, a non-knitter not to just trash my needles when I die, to pass them to another knitter because there is a small fortune in them! LOL

I'm inspired by many of the same things you are, but also just by pure random desire. Right now, for example, I'm fighting the impulse to cast on a new shawl because I already have so many projects on the go.
