IT'S A WRAP

 This is Rain.
Somedays I have to go and walk around the stables in  the next town over.
Yesterday was one of those days.
I love the smells and sounds in the stable.
I love to be around horses. I don't have to ride them.
I just like being around them.
So I treated myself to a walk in the big barn yesterday afternoon and there I met Rain.

I have to report that my hair continues to be red.
I may have to wear this new hat for a month.
It was a fun knit up.
The color is true in the image above.
The color in this image is misleading.
I'm having color issues.
It seems my hairdresser and I don't agree on what BLONDE hair looks like.

She didn't charge me.
It took an additional 2 and a half hours out of my beloved Saturday off, however.

So when life gives you red hair you
a: go back at least once to recolor
b: knit a really cute bamboo hat to wear over the miscolor
c: realize life's too important to cry over your hair like Lucy would on her show....wahhhhhh
d: change stylists after 22 years
e:and quit blabbing about it on your blog ;)

Oh dear---I wish I knew a way to soften up hair color, but the ones you don't want tend to survive any amount of shampooing. I got a permanent once that I just loathed, and I stayed in the shower until I was pruney and wrinkled and it didn't even make a dent in that horrible brillo pad that had been my hair. I feel for you!!!!!!

So color #2 is still a fail? Was it THAT red to begin with? Has said colorist ever had trouble before?

I'm not happy with my hair, but it's not my stylist's fault. It's just changing. It's getting coarser and that's changing everything - color, texture... everything.

Ooooh man, I'm so sorry the return visit to your hairdresser did not resolve the red hair issue!! Did you end up more strawberry blonde than blonde??? You have a beautiful hat to wear!! But still!!!

Sorry to hear you didn't have good results at the salon on Saturday.

The hat is gorgeous - looks like a fun knit. Glad to hear that you spent some time on Saturday roaming the stables and visiting with Rain.

I was thinking about Grease when she had the pink hair.

First, I have to say that the hat is amazing!! I love it X 10!!!! It will be so cute covering your red hair.

I think you will have to be philosophical about your red hair--"This may be my once in a lifetime chance to live life as a redhead!" Live it up. Wear colors you wouldn't wear as a blond. Ride a red horse. Is Rain red? I can't tell from the picture. Embrace the red side of your personality. Then, after giving you hair a little rest--go really, really blonde!! I'm talking Marilyn Monroe blonde!! (Heeheehee I could get you into so much trouble).

Hope the hair color softens with time.

I love walking around barns OR around the field at the alpaca ranch. The animals just make all the stress of the world melt away.

The only time in my life I ever coloured my hair, I used an over-the-counter product that promised to give soft auburn highlights for someone with my shade of hair. (My hair gets natural red highlights in summer so I thought this product should work quite well.)

It turned my hair MAROON. Deep pinky maroon. Took days and days, and many many shampoos to get it out. Never again. :)

The hat is drop-dead gorgeous and will keep you gloriously chapeau'd while you wait for the hair to tone down. Good luck with it!

Enjoy your red hair. You have a great excuse for having a temper tantrum. Fiery rages are just part of the redhead temperament. Also if you keep your new shade this fall, you'll look great in earthy autumn tones!
