THERE ARE NURSE FLOATS AND THERE ARE FLOAT NURSES

Did you see the Nurse Float in the Rose Bowl Parade. I was proud.
I am approaching my 30th anniversary of being a nurse and working as a nurse.  So here is my big news for 2013......after one more night shift, This Saturday, I am done with nights.
In addition to Nurse Floats, there are Float Nurses. I am becoming a Float nurse on Sunday.  This mean I will have tremendous flexibility with my scheduling.  I will FLOAT between intensive baby care, Newborn baby care and Pediatric baby care.
It will be different for me.  It won't feel comfortable for a bit.
I have given it much thought.
Fireman is all for it, which is hugely helpful.

So there you have it.  Nurse Floats and Float Nurses.
And to celebrate we'll have a contest ...
AFTER Saturday nights last night shift.

Happy New Work Year to ME

Love that float!! I'm so, SO happy for you! You'll get used to it. Several of my friends work PRN, which I'm guessing is UVA's float nurse, and they love it.

Very happy, floating New Year to you and the fireman.

Congratulations! My sister is a nurse so I know how hard you work and how much your family has to sacrifice so you can be where you need to be. Here's hoping your transition is a smooth one. Good luck!

Congratulations!! Nurses deserve the best of everything! You might be like a fish out of water for a while but I'm hoping you love it from the first and it will be an easy change.

Congratulations! Great news. I missed the parade completely. Nice that you'll get to float and still work with the babies.

Log Cabins. I haven't knit one, but I have done some modular knitting where I picked up along an edge and created stitches. Best advice I have - make sure your needles are long enough - you'll need circulars and pick up the same way every time. :) g
