Friday Prayers for THey Serve God Well Who Serve His Creatures...

I am in love with Pier One flameless candles.  I just found out they also have timers on them.  I purchased the one above for my sister-in-laws birthday.  They even have scents.  Why didnt' I think up these candles?  Safe, beautiful and they last forever.  I think they are reasonably priced too, at 14.95.
This lovely Madonna and Child was my Christmas gift from friend Jennifer, last night.  I think it is lovely.  Sometimes Holy things are spooky to me.  My great aunt and my Grandma lived together after their husbands'  died.
They had a picture of Jesus with a crown of thorns and his heart showing with thorns around it too.  I think It is the Sacred Heart of Jesus depiction. It creeped me out as a child. I hated to even walk past it in their hallway !
This statue is soft and lovely.  Even the Babe's hands and fingers are expressive and joyful.  Thanks Jen even though you don't read the blog.
I am going to sit and knit in waiting today, on the blanket.
Lucy Lou is close to delivering and I am hoping the kittens come today.   I'm praying to St. Francis for Channon's Gretchen who was attacked recently and has recovery complications and I'm praying for Lucy Lou and her kittens safe delivery.

Aside from that I am still rejoicing that I am not working night shift this weekend!  The novelty as  not worn off.
I'm making Sweet and Sour cabbage soup for us for dinner tonight.
New recipe...I'll give you our review of it tomorrow.

Happy knitting.

Thank you. She has a little swelling, but given all her little body has been through, I think that's very normal.

It is interesting to think about your reaction to that painting of Christ you described. It makes me think of the words 'terrible love.' Love can have a frightening, terrible cost which perhaps is some of what the artist was getting at, but it is an image I at least mentally run from even now as an adult.
I am agreeing with your prayer requests, celebrating your dayshift with you and I'm looking forward to stitching as well =) Happy Weekend!
xx,
Gracie

The Madonna statuette is beautiful.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, Gretchen's recovery and Lucy Lou's delivery.

My grandmother had that same painting and it scared the dickens out of me too. Best wishes for a safe landing to all the little furry ones to be!

The soup sounds yummy!! I love the Madonna and Child! What a lovely gift. I have my Grandmother's painting of Jesus on one of our walls. It has been around all my life so I forget it is there until someone mentions it.

Prayers going out for Lucy Lou's safe delivery and your peaceful knitting weekend.

I have to agree with you. Some of the depictions of Jesus are a little creepy. Growing up in a Mexican family, pictures of Jesus were everywhere. I really like this Madonna and Child statuette. Very non-creepy.

There is nothing more comforting than praying and knitting!

Your candle is lovely. I will have to check those out.

The Madonna and Child is just beautiful. I agree with what you said about some depicitions of Jesus - especially viewed from a child's eyes.
