WE Have a Shawl Pin WINNER!

More from Mexico trip in a momentito, but first: Katherine of Comfort Zone won the Shawl Pin fair and square. Number generator picked #8,and that was Katherine's comment.  Since there are no losers on this blog, I will be sending a little something to the last number picked by number generator as well: So Nancy Kay you win as well!

Above are little sugar candy coffins.  The string on the candy toy makes the skull in the window of the candy go in and out...Can you see that??  I'm all for candy in heaven....how about you?
Al sent this adorable Happy Fall dishcloth to me.  It will not be used for intended purpose; it is too pretty to use.
I was clowning around with Zach on his birthday.  We took a long but interesting trip to Michoucan, for an amazing Day of the Dead gathering.  There are 8 islands in a tiny town with a lake.  People come from everywhere and ride boats to the islands to pray for those buried there.  They literally light up the night with candles at the cemetery beginning at around midnight on 11/2.

Someone told us they do this at night because they believe Heaven is dark.  So the departed souls come back, when it is dark , to be with their families for a day.

I did some serious sock knitting on this day of the trip.  We had some waiting in bus stations so it lent itself to knitting of course. Each bus station had marigold covered altars for the Dead.  Some dedicated to historic figures; for example Pope John Paul.   I am so glad we visited over Zach's birthday and we got a glimpse of the meaning of the Day.

I won!! Thank you so much!! You look so happy with your boy even though you were nervous about the location. Any time you get to spend with the babies is precious!!

The candy looks interesting. Is it good? Sometimes the fancier the candy/cake the less taste it has! My Mom used to say, "That's not eating candy, that's looking at candy."

Glad you are home safe and sound from your visit with Zach, his girlfriend is adorable. It looks like he is thriving and really happy. I know you are so proud of him you are ready to burst. It looks like it was a great time to visit him.
Hugs to you Kathy,

Congrats to the winners! Personally, I think your candy coffins are creepy, but I'm glad you enjoy them.
