Worth Repeating

(Dream light worsted in BROWNIE and Madelinetosh in Firewood) (Shawl Repeat)

*Listening to Pearl Jam's Just Breathe...
it is the final song in the movie BUCK

What qualifies as an addiction to A Movie?  I've seen BUCK 3 times now in a matter of about a month.     Usually I can spread my love of a movie out over a decade or so of replays, but this one's getting embarrassing...

"You watched that AGAIN MOM?????" an incredulous AL scolds me on the phone recently....

I used to watch the Monks Of New Skete dog training  videos ad nauseum as well.....my kids would walk in the room and I 'd look up, guilty again....BUT if you've ever seen their training tapes, they are photographed so spectacularly they deserve an award...

I can't step away from the TV if Apollo 13 is on ......I do a slow head turn as I try to walk out of the room....and then, inevitably...I'm sucked in..  "Houston we have a problem"
as if they won't make it home again......

You'd think I watch a ton of TV and Movies, but I dont' ....I just watch the same things over and over...

is there a word for this?  A word other than TIME SUCK.....?

The wonderful thing about my PROBLEM is that I can knit away while rewatching.......and that, in my own warped way, makes it okay.   I'm not an idle MIKE TV from Charlie and THe CHOCOLATE Factory...which, by the way, I don't re- watch.....
but I do confess to rereading  Dahl's books over and over again....

are you stuck on something these days??  Please do share so my family will stop scolding me...and I can watch something else over and over...

The Knight watches things over and over andoverandover too. It's kinda' like hanging out with my BFF from high school or my college roommate; re-watching is comfortable!

I cry every time I watch A Few Good Men, Men of Honor...

I've too have seen Apollo 13, at least 13 times! These days I'm stuck on the BBC mystery Midsommer Murders. I try to switch to Inspector Lewis every few days but then back I go. Really stuck!!

I have a few favorite movies that I've watched many times: Out of Africa, Shakespeare in Love, Bridge over the River Kwai, Caine Mutiny, Guns of Navarone. Hmmm, now that I think of it, there are many, many more.

Been stuck on Amadeus for years and The Right Stuff and Space Cowboys and It's Complicated and the Matrix and ....

Love to knit in front of these, easier to pick up the thread of the story than a dropped stitch!

Thanks for reading.

Love the colors in the yarn you're using for the shawl repeat. Beautiful.

On the subject of watching something repeatedly...I can't say that I do that. A few flicks have made it to the repeat track once or twice, but not many. "You've Got Mail," "Amadeus," and "Shakespeare in Love," are some I've seen more than once.

Your knitting is so beautiful. I say watch it again, if you enjoy!!! I've never had the patience to sit thru most movies = I'm the oddball!!!

All of my cats will sleep and bathe one another. I was just lucky enough to get both their tongues this a.m.!!!!! Lucky shot!

Love the colors of the shawl! I very seldom do a repeat of a movie, and the few I have done are rather embarrassing.. like "Dirty Dancing" (a BUNCH of times... "No one puts Baby in a corner!"), and "Ghost". Hmm... sounds like I have a Patrick Swayze thing going on.

I don't repeat fiction books either. I find myself just skimming when I try to re-read them.

But that's just me, and if you enjoy doing the repeat then go for it!

Like the look of that shawl! I haven't seen Buck. Will put it on the MUST-SEE list.

I love the yarn for the new shawl!

For me, if "Stardust" is on I can't turn it off. So yeah... I have that problem, too. If it is actually a "problem".

As you know I read Expecting Adam every year. I could practically recite it at this point but it's not the same as the magical experience of reading it.

Also I watch reruns of Parks and Rec and 30 Rock constantly. Been kind of a rough week so I've been watching them an embarrassing amount.

well.....that's normal isn't it?
I watch Sex and the City reruns over and over...and the first movie....can't stop watching it.
I love a version of Persuasion that I watch over and over...and I tivoed the finale for Mad about you and watch that all the time. That's weird isn't it?
Hey....it could be worse. Our tv is comforting. It works for some of us.
Now I have to find out what BUCK is. I was thinking Uncle Buck.

Our family has several movies we watch and watch and watch, but my all time guilty pleasures are To Kill a Mockingbird, You've Got Mail, and Charade. Charade is my all time favorite movie to knit by. I know it by heart, so I can just listen and knit away.
