TGV Shawl Finish and.....

TGV Tricot Grande Vitesse- High Speed Knitting Pattern by Susan Ashcroft.  Carol modeling for me after the finish yesterday.  Yes , I have already cast on for another......

Today's topics were Love of wildlife and Love of Fingerless gloves.

Living in suburbia means more wildlife than you'd think these days.   We see fox, coyote, deer, hummingbirds, all very occasionally.   We see skunk, possum, raccoon and sparrows all the time.
Just about every form of wildlife thrills me.  My father was/is a hunter/fisherman and his love of the outdoors is in my genes. My mother, on the other hand, is the polar opposite.   There have  been Cougar sightings in our area this summer.   What a thrill that would be!   My friend Karen has been hearing an owl in her yard recently at night....I'm on call to run over the next time she hears it....

As for Fingerless, I'm a huge fan.  I suppose it is time I make another pair.  I just rib at both ends of straight stockinette.  If I give a pair to someone who doesn't GET it, they are not nearly as loved as someone who does get it.   I'd rather give to someone who'll wear them out using them....
but wouldnt we all?

So wildlife and fingerless?  Any thoughts?

It's time for me to cast on a pair of fingerless mitts, too. I have two pair, but hey, that's just not enough.

When I lived on the farm, I was surrounded by wildlife, and it was such a treat to see deer, fox, coyote, all kinds of birds, an occasional elk or moose. Now all I see are some birds and rabbits - not much excitement in that. ;o(

Gorgeous shawl. Love how it looks on your model friend. We are wildlife happy here in suburbia. Last night I had two fawns running like crazy in my backyard, we frequently have an owl or two hooting back and forth, coyotes and bobcats are more rare but still come around a couple times a year. There was that time I saw the panther, I just about dropped over in shock and of course the resident alligator. I love nature it makes living here a lot more fun.
Hugs,
Meredith

We had a Bobcat pacing back and forth outside our back fence a few evenings back. So glad he was outside!! Macy didn't sleep that night. She was too busy watching out the window for his return.

Who doesn't love fingerless. I've worn all of mine so much I really need to knit some new ones. You have inspired me!!

I love my fingerless mitts! I am wanting to make another pair with a pattern that has either a lacy or cable stitch included. I have a few to pick from.

I see several animals around my place: birds, chipmunk, rabbits, lizards, an occasional fox or coyote, and (this summer)several antelope.

We live in the country and wildlife is an every day sight. My hubby and I are birdwatchers since before we were married and we so enjoy when our indoor feline sisters watch with us! I love the sound of the Great Horned Owl on a very cold clear December night.

I love fingerless until it gets to be about 32 degrees then my fingers get too cold and begin to hurt/ache. Then I move to my mittens!!!!!

I have fingerless gloves in my cue. My office is always freezing.

We too live in the country and see much wildlife regularly.

Not a fan of fingerless. My fingers and toes are the first things to get cold!

I'm not a big fingerless gloves person. I like glittens/ composite gloves though!

I used to work at a nature center in highschool. I loved it! Got to be near all kinds of wildlife!

My wildlife lately has been limited to squirrels, but they're jumping all over the place getting ready for winter, so it's pretty exciting to watch them.
Lovely shawl!

Beautiful shawl! It turned out great!

I love fingerless gloves. It means I can still type in them! Also, my fingers are too long for most store-bought gloves, so it's kind-of a defense mechanism.
