Frightfully Fun

I love all things Halloween as long as they aren't too creepy.   So that leaves out all the gore and such.

Ten things I love about Halloween :

*Baby Ruths
(the only time of year I indulge in them)

*Pumpkins and more pumpkins

*Young Frankenstein

*It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

*Campfires

*Watching the Trick or Treaters in our neighborhood

*The glorious colors in Chicago this time of year...I can't imagine Halloween without fall colors dancing on every tree limb

*IT corresponds with wearing my hand knit wool socks again

*Sloppy Joes or Chili

*Candy corn with cashews mixed in......

Knit talk resumes tomorrow!
What do you love about Halloween?

Halloween is my favorite holiday, I love everything about it, and Mr 18 year old turns 19 on Halloween. I had a Halloween baby, believe me it explains a lot about his personality.
Hugs,

dark chocolate covered marshmallow pumpkins, pumpkin ravioli, frost, hot tea, for many years our kids went to the annual T or T parade in the center of town, dinner was always hotdogs and cider donuts---YUMMMMM. The feeling the day after, November 1st has always been a great day to me, the ushering in of winter and the holiday season, time to get in gear and get prepared!!

I am not a Halloween lover--or even liker! I'm really a Debbie Downer when it comes to the candy giving and costume ooing and ahhing. Forgive me!! But wait--cashews with candy corn? Maybe I've found something to like about Halloween after all!

Toasted pumpkin seeds with plenty of salt and the smell of a candle burning in a freshly carved Jack o'lantern. Sipping a Bloody Mary wearing my witch hat while handing out the little paper bags of candy I fuss over making. The Day of the Dead skull earrings I bought in Mexico. Caramel apples on a stick-but most of all the nutmeg laced doughnuts my mother made every year and the feeling that with the sunset, a window opens for those who have passed before us and they are close to us once again.
