This Humble Blog

This humble blog rejoices in the ordinary on a daily basis.

If I can knit a garter blanket to completion, and give it to
a little babe
I'm pretty satisfied

If I can share a thought or a recipe or image with
some friends I'll be content

If friends leave a thought back, even the more content I become

Yet when man puts a robot on Mars,  I wonder.....should I aim a little higher?

Or is that for others'

Is that their work?

Today I marvel at NASA again and again

I marvel at the hundreds of thousands of steps from
thought to landing,

that make a walk from Earth to Mars complete.

Grand stuff alright

grand stuff......

My Mom used to say, "Never underestimate the humble deed." Your blog posts carry the impact of a Lunar lander or Mars rover!

Without "ordinary" there would be no extraordinary.

I figure I'll do what I can, and I'll let NASA do what they can. :)

Of course, what they can do amazes me. We watched the live feed of Curiosity's landing. It was fascinating.

This news brought tears to DH's eyes as he used to work on these kinds of projects when we lived in San Diego. Exciting, wasn't it? Both then and now.

I miss hearing about the early 20th century from my grandmother. The things she saw in nearly 100 years...

I really like your poem! It's so well written and shares your sentiment beautifully! I think you have to do what you do well and enjoy doing it, even if it's not monumental... although it might be to someone...

I think your blog is perfectly you. I'm positive from knowing you that you aim high and reach it during your work ends. If you need to keep it simple on your off days - so be it. We all move along at our own pace. Keep moving. g

I look so forward to reading your blog daily. The truely deep conversations you have with yourself and "us" fellow blog readers always gets me to thinking!

Thanks!

Amazing stuff putting a robot that "Thinks" on Mars. I am still aiming for simple, just peace and simplicity neither of which I seem to have right now.
Hugs to you Kathy,
Meredith

I used to think that I was somehow inferior and not as successful as the high profile people who start companies, build empires, etc. But know, I know I am a success when I am doing what I am meant to be doing. For me, that is being a great mom, grandmom, wife, daughter, and secretary at my job. Am I not a greater success, perhaps, than the company CEO who never interacts with his family?

Only God knows how our actions and aspirations influence the world, no matter how simple we may think they are. Yet all he asks is our obedience. To love other, live honestly and give if ourselves. Then He connects the dots.
