Strong Women, Nothing to Fear

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/07/13162177-after-blistering-vatican-report-nuns-gather-

I've mentioned before I was educated by nuns of many orders in my schooling.  Almost all of them were amazing women.  They asked us to be amazing women too.  American Sisters are nothing to fear, I can assure all the men of the Vatican.   Just ask those of us who were raised by the Sisters of the 70s....surely we saw They Had  heard a Higher Calling.

Strong women are nothing to fear.  Strong women are in Matriarchal and Patriarchal societies.  Women find "WAYS" to succeed even when oppressed.  (Harriet Tubman, Sally Ride, Nora Ephron, and so many others)  We are KNIT Together by our collective gender.  We love good men.  We raise happy boys.  (or so we hope!)

Oh my where did this post come from?

Sometimes we even teach our boys to knit, because they ASK to learn.  My boy, now a grown man, can knit a scarf with the best of them.  Lucky the man who loves a strong woman.....and has respect for the Nuns of our time.

Love this post, and you are so right. There is a lot of fear in religion and those boys at the Vatican are at the top of the list fearing good, strong sensible women. Bravo for those Nuns.
Hugs,
Meredith

When I was in elementary school, I had the old-school-probably-didn't-even-like-kids-nuns, and hated every one of them. Plus my father had two aunts who were nuns - one old school as above, and one who was - wait for it - NICE!

Then I got to high school, and was amazed to learn that nuns could be smart, funny, helpful, and amazing. And I gained a whole new, and different type of, respect for nuns.

I think that in today's world, it must be harder than ever to be nun. I think Pope Adolf and his pals should concentrate on other things.

And that today's nuns should be examples for all of us.

OK, I'm shutting up now. ;-)

Love, love this post and agree wholeheartedly. See that bit of green grass in my photo? I think it's the last bit of green in Little Rock. So hot and dry!

PS - Have I ever told you that at 18, I was seriously considering becoming a nun?
