Random

Someone brought a box o''possums into the shelter today.  You wouldn't catch me touching these critters.  I think they should be in Granny's possum stew myself...
This one was starting to hiss already.  A local wildlife refuge worker  was on his way to pick them up when we took  this picture.

It is absolutely true that you never know what you are going to get when you come to this blog....

Random Thursday we'll call this one......

*I started a new baby blanket last night.  No, I didn't' finish the other one.  I think I'm going to make a blanket of 9 inch squares...
The other blanket is just so heavy on my hands, I feel like I'm wrestling the yarn around the needle...
When I knit the square (S) I can use my favorite red plastic needles and I don't' fight with the yarn one bit.

*BABY LOVE Knitted Booties for Tiny Feet looks like a fun new knit book.  My LYS is offering a class with patterns from this book.  Hmmm, I wonder if that means the patterns are tricky and you need a class to figure them out...
anybody out there tried the patterns?

*I made chickpea, basil, tomato salad yesterday.  I'm growing the basil outside this summer.  I didn't realize it needed so much sun.    Some nice lady was picking up her basil at the nursery and I asked her key to success.....she told me: SUN.

*Beverly at POMOGOLIGHTLY is selling some yarns....great deals there.   I love when I cash in on a stash bust...

*Why are Back to School commercials so fun, but school isn't?

*I'd love some vegetarian dinner ideas if you have any.

*We have had some Orioles in our yard.  They have been on the trumpet vine.   We went out and bought an Oriole feeder yesterday and some jelly.  Haven't seen one since...

*Finally, if you have never used SKYPE you will be amazed, awed, and wow'ed by it.  I can Skype with both my adult children who are far from my home right now.  It is so good to lay eyes on them!

Wow, your life is never dull.

I'm working on a project now that I have to wrestle, so I understand completely about the baby blanket.

The chickpea salad sounds yummy.

This retired teacher has a difficult time going into stores this time of year. I think it is in my DNA to wander the aisles of school supplies. Yesterday, I purchased some items I didn't really need.

A box of opossums. There's a joke in there somewhere!! Like, what do you do with a box o'possums? Anything they ins-hiss-t on!

Love the blanket idea. I don't like holding heavy knitting projects either.

Love your randomness. I need to get skype as David will be so far away from me in just one week. Ah the joys of Motherhood, so much worry about things you can do nothing about. Love that cute little possum.
Hugs,
Meredith

I always thought every baby animal was cute. Now I know that a baby possom is not at all cute. :-/

Why are baby animals so darn cute?

Great job on keeping with the vegetarian diet. I want to give it a try again.

Wow - it's adorable. Love those fingers on that baby... they're so long! I love that you never know what's going to show up on your blog. It's always entertaining.

No fan of possum here either.

Love that Skype keeps families close.

I'd add feta to your salad and be in heaven.

That possum is both cute and scary at the same time. My brother just posted a picture of on on his blog, stealing grapes from his arbor.
Good to know Skype is easy. My daughter is moving to England in May :(

Wow, you certainly have an exciting life at the shelter, with all the possums and all (I think I would have been running away myself).

My family Skypes quite often. I have it on my phone too, so I can use it to show things. For example, I just moved into my first apartment and was able to show my mother around the place even though she was miles away! Good luck with all of the cuddly knitting.

Possums...um, not a fan. Kind of like mice. Got a good chuckle from your brief story about the Orioles! Isn't that about the way it goes sometimes!!

Look a his little pink fingers!

Also: anything Mexican is easy to do vegetarian. I'm a huge fan of potato tacos myself.
