Bookmark Knitting

I am having a ball knitting up my swap bookmark.  This is a 4 row repeat pattern and it is just interesting enough for me to stick with it.   There is a world of bookmarks out there if you look around in cyberspace.  So many people have Kindles and Nooks, but we still have paper books and thus, a bookmark is still useful.   I am thinking about knitting a bunch for holiday gifts.. .....
I bought this foot jewelry for a friend.  I found it on Etsy.   Isn't it cute stuff?  I have only had one Etsy purchase that was a disappoint over the years.

Now that I have Al on the coast, I'm paying attention to all hurricane season events.   We live in an area where tornadoes and snowstorms are the biggest threats.  There has not been an actual tornado in our area ever, just plenty of watches.   Snowstorms are usually manageable.    Hurricanes, earthquakes, flash floods, and tsunami's are not part of our lives.  My world got a little bit smaller now that my adult children live away from home.....any advice?

I used to knit bookmarks out of crochet thread. It's a fun way to make a quick, useful gift.

LOVE that yarn. Pretty!

Hurricanes... don't sweat it until they evacuate. THEN it's time to worry. Al is in an area that was to some degree developed to withstand visits from the Atlantic. If ever she needs to head inland, make sure she has my info. Our firehouse is an evacuation site.

And Isaac is "just" a little boy. We've been at the beach - on an island - for a category one storm. Flooding is the biggest problem, generally.

I love your bookmark and your choice of wool! Now you have inspired me to make some for Christmas presents. Still have to finish my fall dishclothes though!

Okay, I can totally relate to the adult children weather worry. I have to go on meds for the winter because of MY anxiety to dangerous winter conditions (we get hit HARD here in Central NY) and I have tried not to inflict that anxiety on my adult children. Well, it worked because I have fearless daughters BUT I end up taking my anxiety to a NEW LEVEL because I become frightened for their safety as they drive back and forth to work. Being in retail they work late hours during the holiday season.......

My suggestion is knit more, pray more and trust Him more. I am sorry I couldn't be of more help. I can relate though 100%!

i am in the same boat---all of a sudden the word tornado makes me jump now that Debb is Alabama and they had a very bad one since she moved there less then 10 miles from her. No advice except pray hard and keep knitting!

Don't panic. I live in the hurricane zone so I am used to all this hoopla. Make sure you have canned food, a flashlight with batteries and clean water. But really until there is much, much more info on this storm it is not important. It is way too far out in the water to even be of concern. Email me if you are pan iced.
Hugs,
Meredith

When our six children started scattering to the winds I had to find peace with not knowing what was happening with them every minute. A Yoga instructor friend taught me a visualization routine that has greatly helped. I envision myself putting each child into God's hands and saying, "I give them to You because I can't take care of them right now." Peace!

My advice .... most of what we worry about never happens. So --- don't worry. (Well, at least don't worry TOO much. We're Moms. We're gonna worry. It's what we do.)

I almost laughed when I saw the "foot jewelry". I actually made some of these back in the 70's! That was when crochet beaded necklaces were the rage, also... I did a bunch of those!

I had not thought about bookmarks, but that might be a great way to use up these leftover bits of sock yarn.

No advice on the hurricane thing. Sorry!

I have a Kindle Fire but I still read hardcover books. I use mine mainly for patterns, games and if wi-fi is availably searching Ravelry.

I live far enough inland that the only hurricane that had a serious impact on us was Hugo. We do ocassionaly get the wind and rain from tropical storms or hurricanes.
