VIrginia KNIT Shop

Al wasted no time in Virginia finding her local Yarn Shop.  While we are not sisters, we are mother daughter knitters, I have to love name of the shop.  Al bought a pattern book and some yarn.   I wanted to beat her to it and leave a gift certificate at the shop for when she arrived, but I wasn't sure which store in her area was the one she was going to visit.
She took some images for me for the blog, and I love the fair isle on this sweater.   While Al, Fireman and Zach are poor comment-ors, they do support the blog as lurkers and images like these.   Thanks Al.

Fireman will watch the Tour de France finish, the British Open coverage and Cubs baseball from now until Sunday.  I don't mind.  The news is so horrible that I don't need to watch TV at all.   If it is on I an I find the sports backround noise enjoyable.   How about  you?

I get the golf channel non-stop, and that's okay with me. You are right, it is calming and pleasant to knit to. Much of the time I listen to an audiobook while I knit. Then when I look up for a moment I see the green grasses of the golf course. Life is good!

Hey, I went there when I was in Virgina a few years ago!!! If I remember, it was an excellent LYS so I'm not surprised it was Al's choice.

I personally could live in the old days of radio---turn it on for my stories and just shut it off again, I hate television droning on and on like it does, and if I am home alone it is on only once a day for 1 1/2 hours, if TOm is home it is on constantly because otherwise he thinks to much---our taste in programming is not similar at all, while he likes some of mine I don't like any of his

I've never been there, but I've heard great things about it!!

I like the sound of silence. The Knight requires the TV on, unless he's asleep... and even then sometimes, the TV watches him.

I do not like to watch sports on TV or online. I like "live" atmosphere and experiences.

Al is my kind of gal, that is the first thing I would find, too. I am with you on the news, so horrible these days. I am watching the Tour, the Rays and getting ready to depart for a week long swim meet in Atlanta.
Hugs to you dear friend,
Meredith

I will knit to anything in the background EXCEPT current news. It is too horrible for my heart to wrap around - the pain and anguish we are inflicting on ourselves is sooooo sad. Been listening a lot to Big & Rich's so That's Why I Pray.....

I've been watching the British Open since Thursday morning. It's a wonderful, calming alternative to what's on every other channel.

I admit it, I'm a Tour de France geek. Look forward to it every year! Thanks for reading

Personally, I hate TV. Well, actually, it's all the commercials I hate. Also, I live in a household of people who turn the volume up way too loud for me to concentrate on anything (like right now commercials are blaring). I prefer putting movies on for background noise, especially a movie I know all the lines to and can participate in as I knit. :)

Knitting Sisters is the BEST BEST shop!! They used to sell my soap and they were my vendors at the knitting retreat I started and ran in Clarksville, VA. Some of my knitting friends kept the retreat going and I saw the Knitting Sisters there last January. One of my sons went to school at William & Mary and the other in Norfolk. Loved any excuse to visit Knitting Sisters. So glad you got to go!
