New THIS Week ....

I have started the Multnomah shawl using some Koigu Al left to me.  This is a new knit for me and I love the pattern simplicity at this point.   I was able to knit a bit at Ravinia last night while James Taylor sang to us.  It was an intimate little group of thousands, all enjoying the night as cooler air finally moved in.
This Statue is not new to me, at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, but Zach used his new camera there.

I learned, news to me, that if you wish to attract a moose ....you pour a bucket of water over the side of your canoe to mimic the sound of a male urinating ......
my friend Sharon was delighted that a moose came to their lake house beach last week.  Very cool viewing.  I have never seen one in person in the Northwoods.

I learned how to make amazing Potato chip Sour Cream Onion dip without a package this week.

and lastly, I learned that my vocal chords are inflamed.  I went to the ENT for my ongoing snoring issues and he looked around.   I don't have a husky hoarse voice, just inflammation on exam.
I guess I should stop singing at the top of my lungs at Ravinia concerts....

what have you learned this week?

I'm relearning that emotional eating will derail my weight-loss journey. Duh! The progress I made last week was wiped out in one day of grazing to soothe my bruised psyche. Will I ever get this under control!

I have never seen a moose in person - I would love to. They are majestic animals. g

The one and only time we've seen a moose was in the Tetons at a distance. What an amazing animal! Isn't Ravinia great? Haven't been to Chicago since March, but it's another fun spot to visit. Now I need to go find that Multnomah shawl. Have you ever seen Multnomah Falls?

I learned now matter how old some women get, they still act like the mean girls from junior high school.

I learned that it's NOT a good idea to walk across the street in your bare feet when it's 99 degrees and sunny outside.

I learned jumping in the swimming pool cools off over-heated feet very nicely.

I learned to check the batting carefully before using in a customer quilt. Some kind of smutty black stuff was on the batting, I did not discover it until the quilt was done, and dealing with it was a real PAIN! (and lots of extra time.)

I learned when I am feeling funny to check my blood sugar. Dizziness this morning turned out to be a sugar low, even though I ate my usual oatmeal and banana for breakfast.

I learned I just can't knit as fast as I THINK I can, and my knitting goals should be spaced out a bit.

How can you not sing along with James Taylor? Hum for a while and let your voice heal!

Can't wait to see Multnomah completed.

Moose are scary animals!! I saw one scratching on a tree and the whole tree was shaking. It was a big tree too!

I love the Multnomah shawl pattern - but I have decided I definately am NOT a shawl person. Cowl maybe, but not shawl.

I can hardly wait to see your progress. Love the wool.

What did I learn this week? Hmmmm, that I made the right decision in marrying my best friend.
