A Year of Socks??

(Grace's Dragon Swap Package to Leslie pictured. MMMM Cherry Tree Hill, we don't have that round these parts...)

I'm ready to cast on socks again. I've said it before, I'll say it again. THere is nothing like a pair of hand knit socks. I wear them out. That's a good thing; Once they wear out I get to knit more. I am thinking of a year of mostly socks. I wonder if I can knit 12 pairs in 12 months. Have you knit a year of socks??

I dont' like knitting things that don't get worn. I'm not good at sweaters, yet. Sweaters have that itch factor to consider. The sock yarns are amazing and abundant. There are a plethora of sock books and patterns. I have yet to knit everyone I know a pair of socks.....so there's a goal for me, right?

Speaking of goals:

Someone's brand new camera broke. I think I broke into a cold sweat when I realized it. I have to say COSTCO's return policy is wonderful. I had the receipt thank goodness, thank heavens, thank The Lord above. Thank the camera fairy. Maybe my goal should be about my camera this year. I got another FUJI just like it. I certainly don't want 12 cameras in 12 months.

I know a man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for......
okay,
then
13 pairs in 12 months.

I've found that if you use a nice merino, merino blend or alpaca the itch factor is significantly reduced or non-existent. This may not be the case if you have super sensitive skin.

I like Madelinetosh, Malibrigo, Dream in Color and Cherry Tree Hill. I use yarns like Noro for outwear since they are very itchy to my very sensitive skin.

Cherry Tree Hill yarn is by far my favorite sock yarn. It knits beautifully, feels wonderful, and wears really well.

Woohoo!! You can do it Kathy!! I'm planning to go back to my favorite Malabrigo sock yarn this year to help the continued stimulation of my knitting mojo.

I also need a new camera. DS#3 was amazed that I am still using a 5 megapixel camera.

You can totally do this! I joined the SAM KAL blog a couple years ago and it's been a great motivator for me :)

Nice yarn! Did the Dragon Swappers see the Dragon Paws mitten pattern on Ravelry? I wonder whether that dragon could be put on a pair of socks?

I am in awe, socks are so beautiful but I don't have the patience for them. I love a good sweater and of course five hundred million shawls that I don't wear.

Good luck with the 13/12 socks challenge.

Oooooooooo...cherry tree hill is a wonderful sock yarn. It's definitely one of my favorites.

There is a 12 socks in 12 months group on Ravelry. You should check them out.

Beautiful sock yarn, there, and what a good goal for the year! I'm looking forward to checking out your progress.

That's a very ambitious goal! I really like Lonesome Stone Alpaca. It's a local yarn, so I am not sure if you can find it there.

I bought some Cherry Tree Hill yarn at the Montoya Fiber Studio here in Evanston about a year and a half ago (I remember the timing 'cause I was knitting socks with it in Europe). I love it too, and the socks are sumptuously comfortable.

I always think that I can knit a pair a month, but it never works out that way..
Too many other projects to knit! Though socks are my favorite.

Yes! You can do it! I am planning on 12 pairs again this year. Last year I got 11 1/2 pairs done. I only use super-wash merino wool, because I am NOT hand-washing my socks.

I keep thinking I need to venture into knitting something else, but I NEED more wool socks... my feet freeze in the winter.

I'm with you and the socks. But they seem to take me FOREVER! Every year I join Summer of Socks, and every year I only knit one pair, and it seems to take three months.

Maybe this year will be different...
