A Weekend Off!

I have the weekend off, as a matter of fact I have a few of them off. I may try holiday baking. Remember what I heard about doing something that scares you every day? Well, yesterday that ended with an ER visit....
anyhow baking frightens me. I found this image of cookies on the GOOGLE IMAGE search. THey look very do able....

Is there a cute and easy Holiday cookie recipe you can send along??? I am not into fondant or intricate but lovely icing. I am searching for easy baking....(I had an easy bake oven, did you?)

As for knitting, I am finishing another gift cowl. I think I have enough leftovers from Al's raspberry leggings to make a pretty gift cowl.
I WOULD LOVE YOU TO LEAVE A COMMENT>

I love to bake Christmas cookies, but I simply can't do it anymore -- I eat too many myself.

Enjoy your weekend off.

Try those peppermint sugar cookies. Turning peppermints into dust is the hardest part.

I have others... do you like marshmallows? Candy-cookies?

Those cookies are very cute! Do you have a recipe to share? That is such a cute photo of Beatle. How'd you get him to keep that hat on? Glue? Neat that you have enough yarn left for a cowl. They make great gifts!

POTATO CHIP COOKIES

1# butter
1 cup sugar
3 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 25cent bag of Jay's regular potato chips- 1 1/2 cups.

Cream butter, sugar and flour like you would for a pie shell. Hands work best as it is too thick for the mixer. Add vanilla and mix well. Add the crushed chips and mix well. ( I like to crush them in a zip lok bag and then measure them from that.) Drop by small teaspoon on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 350 degrees in a preheated oven. They will be very light but will have set some.
You will get between 65 and 75 cookies depending on the size. They are rich so we like the smaller size and they do spread when baked.

This was my husband's great grandmother's recipe. Great to have a child, of any age , help with mashing the chips and smooshing up the dough.
Enjoy !

Yes I had an Easy Bake oven. I don't know what happened to it may be in the storage house. I used to use it all the time and that is probably why I started cooking at an early age.

I'm making some type of cheesecake for a work thing on Monday. If you ever need a cheesecake recipe I can help you out. Cookies, not so much.

Amazing! You spent time in the ER yesterday? I spent most of the day in the ER yesterday with the post-op granddaughter who was having some pain. DD, her Mom, was away at a conference and Grandma got to do the ER run. All was good and I hope it was the same with you!!! Enjoy your baking!

The secret that I found to make me make really good, and unburned cookies, is to use insulated cookie sheets and nothing in a dark color. The insulation helps prevent burning and makes for more even baking. You should try one, if you don't have them already. Made all the difference in my baking.
Good luck tomorrow with the baking. Think how wonderful your house will smell.

I loved my Easy Bake oven!! I also love to bake in my big oven now. If you want something that looks fancy but it easy, invest in a Spritz cookie press. You can squeeze out the most delicious, delicate fancy looking buttery cookies. Yay! I use this recipe: http://www.wilton.com/recipe/Spritz-Cookies
