The Christmas Picture

This was the scene at our family's party over Thanksgiving. 7 little ones were propped up on the sofa, and everyone started snapping for the family picture. I thought turning the lens on the photographers was funny.

I'm still working on socks and a bulky cowl.

Here is the Buckeye recipe that I used this weekend. They came out great. The deal is, if Fireman and Zach eat them before the holidays they have to make another batch.

It is from All recipes.com. I read the notes from folks and followed a few of their suggestions.

BUCKEYES

1 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup softened butter
1 t. vanilla extract
3 cups confectioners sugar

12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
4 T shortening.

Mix the first 4 ingredients well. You almost have to add the 3 cups of confectioners sugar one cup at a time. By the time you are on the 3rd cup you'll be using your hands to mix it. Do not sift the sugar as the original instructions call for.

Roll the mix into small balls and put a toothpick in each one. Then refrigerate for at least one hour.

Melt the chips and shortening in the microwave 30 seconds at a time and stir.

Dip the peanut balls into the chocolate mix and place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet to harden. Refrigerate.

These came out so so good!

Wow! 7 little ones. It's a miracle you could get them all to stay still long enough.

I love buckeyes and have never tried to make them. Maybe this is the year?

Oh they sound so yummy. My son just signed with The Buckeye's to swim next year, unfortunately he can't eat sugar or these would be the perfect treat for him.
Enjoy,
Meredith

I always love pictures of people taking pictures.

BTW, I am most definitely not even looking at that recipe. No sirree, Bob, not looking, not even peeking, not even drooling over that childhood favorite. Mmmmm. Buckeyes. Mmmm.

Cute photo with wonderful expressions.

I wonder, am I the only one in the world that still looks through the view finder on a camera?

Looks like a great recipe! I finished off the last of the mint chocolate chip Christmas Bell cookies. I think I need to stay away from the Buckeyes.

I would love to see a picture of the little ones lined up!

Thanks for the recipe, Kathy! It sounds like a winner. I had no idea Radar was white! How many cats do you have?
