The very ugly wristwarmers

and a cookie. A great peanut BUtter Chocolate Chunk Cookie. I bought the cookies.
I'm knitting the wristwarmers. Tne only hope for them is the washing machine.....
The yarn is no fun whatsoever to work with. The stitch definition reveals every tense and relaxed moments of the last week. Can you say Uneven???

So the plan is to felt them. I put in two rows of YO K2Tog for good measure. Now, how to felt these without the purposeful holes closing up....
maybe I can thread a shoelace through the holes before I wash it????? Will that work?

You know the best thing about this knit up , is that at the very worst it becomes a catnip toy.......

I have no suggestions, but I think they are lovely! I sometimes am very envious of people that live in climates where they can actually USE knitted items in the winter. I only use knitted socks. I can't stand anything wrapped around my neck, so no scarves are used. BUT then I remember how much I hate being out in the cold. It makes me very thankful for the warm, muggy, and almost-no-winter climate of Louisiana!

I've never done felting, so I will stand by to hear what people think.

How about stringing straws on the shoelaces and threading THAT through the purposeful holes. I'm thinking shoelaces might not be firm enough on their own.

Those wristwarmers are a nice color! Have you felted stuff before? It's kind of fun, and as I recall you can sort of mold it before it dries, so maybe then you could use straws as Dee suggested? (And if all else fails, I'm sure Beatles would like a new toy.)

The great thing about felting is that once done you can take the scissors and clip those holes open without fear of stray stitches. The wrist warmers are a beautiful color and felting will make them nice and warm! Go for it.

Also, great cookie!! Suddenly I'm hungry!

I'd be really coveting that cookie if I hadn't had a still-warm, toffee and chocolate chip cookie Monday evening.

Thanks for the comment you left about the loss of my kitty Jensen.

I have read somewhere that putting something in the wholes should help. Shoelaces may work fine as I don't think they would felt. You may want to check during the felting process every 5 minutes or so and just move the shoelace so it doesn't get embedded into the yarn.

LOL Love the idea abt a felted cat toy!!!! And I agree, M is being very strong right now. And Clover needles stink!!! I'm the next to the last one to work on this blanket and the needles are SO dull and part of the finish is worn off. I'm hoping they are just an old pair and not a new one when this first started!!! And part of this should have been emailed but I couldnt find one for you......
