The Birds...no knitting content here...

DONT FORGET TO ENTER MY CONTEST BY LEAVING ANY COMMENT BETWEEN NOW AND JULY 31 MIDNIGHT. I"ll BE UP Then..

As Franklin Habit proposed, I went out looking for photography opportunities in my own neighborhood the other day. Nevermind it was a thousand and two degrees....I walked very slowly.
Good thing, too, because I may not have noticed this fledgling on a neighbors statue.

He seemed perched there for help. Birds in flight around me freak me out.....beyond belief. My sister had a parakeet that she let out to enjoy the house....when he flew by me I'd go into a pose whereby my shoulders actually touched my ear lobes. I would close my eyes and try like hell to say I was fine with Jefferson, said bird, being out when I was there....

In nursing school I had a community health assignment to bathe a woman with narcolepsy who lived in a tiny apartment in Uptown. She had an enormous bird too. Oh how I worried each time I went to visit. I asked her to put it away when I came...I just couldn't handle it.

MY great aunt had a parrot that mimicked her loud, abrasive voice yelling "Shut UP! " to her dogs. The bird would make the dogs barking noise and say, Shut Up Shut Up! That one stayed caged, and we were reminded each visit that if we put our fingers near him he'd bite them off....

all good memories eh? So I was amazed when the kids at this house came running out of the side yard and exclaimed, "Thats our bird Peep. We feed him worms" and they proceeded to try to pick him up and he was flapping and I was screaming. The father came out and scolded them for trying to hold Peep. Peep was freaked. I was freaked.

So, I got a nice picture of Peep here.....sitting on an angel....all part of my photography improvement plan....
so go ahead, say this post is for the birds....:)

Huck angel. Love it. Truly, deeply, madly-do.

Peep looks like he is just chillin' and not too disturbed by the attention. The thing I love about the second picture is the outfit the little girl in pink is wearing--airy chiffon with nothing but bikini panties under it. I so wish I could dress like that in this weather and get away with it.

Love it, love it.

Peep is feed well because he sure is big. I assuming it's a boy. I wonder if he'll fly away without some prodding.

Awwww...great picture. In fact, if I win this contest, would you mine doing something terribly un-neighborly and slightly illegal and heisting that angel statue for a prize for me?
