A happy ending......when Pretend Friend Donna becomes real

(The happy ending in this story is especially heart-warming.

The Velveteen Rabbit lived happily ever after once he became real.

The boy became an adult yet never forgot his special rabbit.

The rabbit learned to appreciate that becoming real can take a lifetime, and it did involve getting hurt. Becoming real doesn't happen to people who..

"break easily, or have sharp edges or who have to be carefully kept."

One must endure and be patient.)

That was taken from a book review of the Velveteen Rabbit, that I found on line this morning.

I got to meet Donna Boucher of Quiet Life blog fame. She invited me to meet her and her darling daughters at yesterday's first Cub game . (Double header) What happened when we met was just magical to me. I told little Katie , "Your mom is a gas!"
(Katie covered her sweet mouth and threw open her amazing and beautiful eyes and said she'd never heard that expression before)

I hope you all have had the experience of meeting someone in real time who you've admired and loved from afar for a long time. Circumstances vary. The fullness of the heart does not.

I am a serious baseball fan, and I couldn't have cared less about yesterday's game. We sat up high in the bleachers....in the only shade afforded the park by the scoreboard. The Only manual scoreboard left in the Majors. Donna was wise and found us seats in the breeze and out of the sun.

The Cubs lost in Cub fashion. But if Donna Boucher ever comes to a game with me again, well, as Ernie Banks likes to say, "LETS PLAY TWO!"

I haven't tried "my" needles yet, but I used some at knit group and REALLY liked them.

I like wood needles too, but the Brittany's I had were a little too blunt. These have a medium-sharp tip.
