Hi from up here in Minnesota!!

Charles M. Schultz is from Minnesota! If you walk through the streets of The Twin Cities, you will see various statues of Snoopy etc. This one is outside a veterinary hospital that is situated in an old house. I love it.

The Yarnery is a favorite shop I like to go to when I visit my sister. We bought her yarn so that I can knit a blanket for her. Then I bought some Koigu.....

35% OFF. I Love the colorway. Hmmmm, socks? a Cowl? hmmmmm a bandanna shawlette?
I was displeased, I have to say in one little way. After spending nearly 200 dollars on yarn, they would not wind two tiny skeins of Koigu. Their policy. Not because it was on sale. They weren't busy with classes or clients. They just don't wind.
I want yarn shops to wind. All of the shops in my Chicago area wind. You may have to wait, but they wind and they do it with a smile. Does your shop wind?

Finally, last night I was treated to Mammatus Clouds. I had never seen them. Mam...for mammary. THey resemble breasts....to some. They were beautiful in a threatening sky.

I haven't visited many yarn stores, but I want mine wound too. Sometimes I take it home to wind it, but sometimes I want it wound. And for the longest time I didn't own a ballwinder or swift. That would aggravate me no end.
I am from MN and love the Snoopy statutes. So fun!!

Any yarn shop that sells yarn by the hank should have a ball winder and offer to wind the yarn for the customer - at no cost. It is a small service the shop can provide to its customers, and it should be automatic for the clerks to ask the customers if they want this service. It's small courtesies like this that create return customers.

It doesn't bother me either way. I've had a ballwinder and swift long before people started expecting and lys to wind their yarn. I don't know if any of the lys' in my area wind yarn. I've seen equipment for winding set up in only one of them.

If I'm traveling and I buy yarn I'm not going to asked for it to be wound because I already have my traveling projects with me.

Hmmm, that is odd. ALL the yarn shops I've gone to wind. A couple I've had to ask, but my local one offers each and every time. If you say no, they even tell you that there's no charge for it. It seems to me that if a shop sells yarn by the hank, it's a nice customer service provision for the ppl who have bought your yarn....

Lovely Koigu and interesting clouds. Charles Shultz lived in Santa Rosa for many years...there is a Snoopy museum there and cute statues sprinkled around the old town area. I've pictured several of them on my blog. Fun stuff!

The store closest to my house doesn't have a winder. It is kind of annoying. I don't have a winder myself, but maybe I should get one.

I would love to have a Snoopy mailbox! It would be okay because people in the neighborhood already know I am crazy.

Love the Koigu and the colors. I know what you mean about yarn shops not winding yarn. The closest shop to me will not do it either. Oh well, DH would be disappointed if he couldn't be my swift.

Neat cloud formation. I've never seen it before.

Ooh, interesting clouds; I've never seen them, either.
Every shop I know of will either wind your yarn or direct you to the winder and teach you how to use it.

Both of my LYSs wind. One asks me *most* of the time whether I want it wound. Sometimes she forgets, but it's okay, because I never do want it wound.

The other shop ALWAYS asks.

Sounds like the shop you visited could use a little lesson in customer service.

In any case, the Koigu is beautiful. I think I have some of that same colorway in my stash.

I am a spinner and love the feel of the yarn weather I am spinning it or winding it. I usually refuse the offer in my visits to yarn shops. As I wind the yarn, it talks to me in some way, helping me decide what I will knit with it. All that aside, I would not want to shop in a store that is so unconcerned with customer service. I also don't think they should charge a regular customer for some help with knitting problems unless it would take more than 15 minutes or so to fix.

Wow, I never realized they don't have the ability to wind yarn there. Maybe it's the size of the store. I don't get to the Yarnery very often. I do love Darn.Knit.Anyway. It's a very warm and welcoming store.
Have you had a chance to go to Lila and Claudine's yet? If not, the next tme you visit you must go there. It's a wonderful place. (And they will wind your yarn for you.) Be prepared for eye candy.

I agree. If they sell yarn in skeins, they should wind. I understand if it's sale yarn (although my LYS just asked if I could drop off my sale yarn and she'd wind it when it was slow and I could pick it up later).

Heck, while you're waiting you might very well end up selecting more yarn!

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. I'm Making Bunny Rabbits

  These are the one square bunnies .  They are a free pattern on Rave1ry.  I'm bunny making to force spring to come.  I'm a1so taking it easy on my hands again.  The med we tried did keep my hands from shaking, but it was a med for a med. and that's crazy town.  I can contro1 a hook much better than need1es.  It wi11 have to suffice for now.  I'm enjoying your b1ogs and your Spring.  This time of year I so want to 1ive in a southern state.  But this Spring is a new one for me and I'm going to find a way to 1ove it.   IT may have just gotten to 50.   Degrees.  I have to run.  There's very ear1y yardwork to do.   The birds have 1eft a rotten mess of sunf1ower she11s under the feeders.  I hope it is not frozen!  Have you been switching things up in your neck of the woods?   I haven't forgotten you, b1og pa1s.  I 1ove seeing you on Instagram .

Do You Smile When You Knit???

I am pretty sure I smile when I knit.  I'm going to think about that today when I pick up the baby blanket in progress.  I am also pretty sure I cry when I knit; well, not really.  I have shed some tears over the years but they were way back.  I surely scowl when I drop a stitch.   A time lapse of knitters' faces would be interesting enough .... Tank, aka Helo, is starting to smile around here.  Just look into those aqua eyes......they make me smile all the time. He is half Siamese and all gorgeous.
