Give me a title......

thank you Charles M. Schulz

Last summer was very very rough here. I am looking forward to the joys of summer this year. I want to make up for all I missed last year and more. It is also about time I gave away a gift to my blog friends. So, let's have a contest shall we?

Rules are super simple:

Give me a title:
of a pattern
or of a recipe,
or of a book

that I might look into this summer. Just the title, unless you so kindly wish to send me an enitre recipe or post the recipe on your blog. If you send me a pattern to knit up, and it is nice and simple, you get two points for the drawing. All entries must follow THIS post. Comment on this post, so I dont have to go looking through a few days of comments. Summertime, and the blogging is easy...

I will open the contest now and run it through June 1st. On June 2nd I'll pick a winner.

The prize? A wonderful summery shawl pin with a lovely dragon fly on it from Knitpicks OR
a jar full of lightening bugs....your choice.
Let the games begin. Happy Summer. God Bless all the service men women and families for their
incredible sacrifice to protect us. Open up your porch, pitch your tent, dig in your garden, and visit your friends and families under the fireworks. Summer is such a gift.

I WOULD LOVE YOU TO LEAVE A COMMENT>

Wishing you a joyous summer...

I'm reading the Tea Shop cozies. Start with Death by Darjeeling. (http://www.laurachilds.com/teashopmys.html)

I'm itching to add to my Junior League Cookbook collection. I'm two cities behind, so I plan to order Crescent City Moons (always order from the League's website so they make more $$ on the sale! http://www.jlno.org/?nd=store) and I'll have to get creative for Philly...

Patterns? I'm into the long crescents right now. I'm thinking of doing Nessie (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nessie---english) which might appeal to you?

http://www.amazon.com/Bucolic-Plague-Manhattanites-Gentlemen-Unconventional/dp/006133698X --- the book I just finished and liked A LOT --- can't say favorite, but it was quite funny, especially for this wanna-be-farmer. LOL

Diamonds On My Ankles--a sock pattern--will not mention the designer.

Billy Graham In Quotes is one of my favorite books. I quote his quotes a lot. They make me feel peaceful!

This is a great idea! I think my favorite book currently is the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, there is a trilogy, but this book is the first one. I will post my favorite recipe on my blog tomorrow, it is cheese enchiladas, I love them and they are versatile. And my favorite pattern for this week is this chemo cap- http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt18.htm. I have made three of them this week, so I can finally start a new project.

Dee's recipe for Dutch Babies is great; I've tried it! The best book I've read recently is Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. As for an easy knit, can you beat a garter stitch scarf in a beautiful yarn? Have a happy holiday!

My favorite cookie: Sally Ann's, a recipe written in my mother's handwriting on the back flap of her cookbook.

Recipe here: http://wyomingbreezes.blogspot.com/2009/12/who-was-sally-ann.html

The Montego Bay Scarf is a nice, easy, summer knit.

I haven't reread Portrait of a Lady in the last few years, but hope to get to it this summer.

For books, I was about to recommend The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, when I saw someone else had recommended it too! A great read!

If you like chocolate cakes - Flourless chocolate cake. My version is here (http://musingndoing.blogspot.com/2009/11/baking-with-little-helpers.html)

I just sent you a pattern through Ravelry. :-) Enjoy!

This is hard! I would recommend anything by Walter Moers - The 13 and 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear, City of Dreaming Books, Rumo and His Miraculous Adventures, or the Alchemaster's Apprentice - they're all great books, filled with satire and allegory and nice summer reads :)

By far the easiest pattern I've done is the Reclamation scarf. Nearly brainless. I've even thought about teaching the cat how to knit so we could have a KAL.

I just bought 2 books at YarnOver that I haven't started yet. The one that I'm about to read is "hit by a farm...How I learned to stop worrying and Love the Barn."

Hope you have a wonderful summer. Currently, I am knitting the swallowtail shawl for my daughter who is getting married, new to your blog so not sure if you have knitted this yet. I love lemon bars during the summer and the book that I am reading right now is Water for Elephants!

I'm thinking of making Audrey this summer - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/audrey-2

I got some Bangkok Seasoning from Penzey's - http://www.penzeys.com/ - sprinkle it on boneless skinless chicken breasts and bake. Eat plain or slice and serve on a salad.

I'm planning to read "Heaven is for Real" and "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks". My husband (who just asked what I was doing) says that you should read "Ideas Have Consequences".

Citizen Kane---so many possibilities

Buy a rotisserie chicken and shred it, add it to a crockpot with 1 jar of salsa, 1 can of corn, 1 can of green chilis chopped and 1 can of diced black olives. Stir well, put it on low and forget it until dinner--serve with rice and sourcream and shredded cheese

Barbara Brettons--Casting Spells and the other books in her knitting and mystical magical series, fabulous reading!!!

I am still so sorry your summer last year was the pits, I remember how much I missed you! I hope this year is much much better because I worry about my pretend friends Hugs to you!

You'll have a great summer I bet.

I really enjoyed knitting this pattern. It's easy to knit and remember the pattern. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simple-skyp-socks

This is a delicious salad. The recipe link is in the blog post. http://nothingbutknit2.wordpress.com/2011/05/26/something-yummy-to-eat/

I just finished this book. It sits on the line between fiction and fantasy. There are some scary parts but the story is well written and a page turner. http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Breathe-Word-Jennifer-Mcmahon/dp/0061689378/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1306839802&sr=1-1

Ooh, how about a title of a cookbook full of recipes? I love Apples for Jam by Tessa Kiros. The photos are gorgeous and everything I've made (including ricotta gnocchi) has been delicious.
Hope you enjoyed a great three day weekend!

Hello fellow Seussian
thanks for your kind words--they really made me laugh.
here are my recommendations:
I have been watching a DVD called Standing with Stones-A journey through megalithic Britain. Really good. Really. A journey through time and space.
And I have a book too Looking in the Distance by Richard Holloway.
No recipes-I work with what is in the kitchen and meals are always a surprise. As for knitting, I recently made the Shetland Leaf Shawl and quite enjoyed it. lovely lace.

Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day!

That might not actually be the title, but I can't get to the kitchen right now to find out. Even if you only make the Boule, the book is completely worth it. Changed my bread making forever.
My favorite sock pattern (its plain vanilla) is Toe Up Socks with a Difference by Wendy D. Johnson. Its what I go to when I want mindless, easy knitting.
