Musts

I must learn to imagine the look of the colorway knitted up. The yarn is just so sneaky to me. It looks one way in the hank and completely different knitted up. Almost every time. Do you have a tip for me ? This Garden Haze str yarn is looking very southwest knitted up. I am going to make it a gift cowl to my old maid, Marta. We gave up her cleaning services, but still remain friends. She wears these colors and loves reds. I must have her over for an emergency spring cleaning day.....

I absolutely must by a tractor seat. I put my Half irish arse down in one yesterday and fell in love. It cradles your behind like no other chair.....Have you ever sat in one? Well, you simply MUST.

Do you have a MUST for today?

I WOULD LOVE YOU TO LEAVE A COMMENT>

Haven't see a tractor seat chair. Huh...

And I had the same problem with yarn and especially loose fiber. It takes time and experience, but there are hues that tend to dominate and/or "swallow" others.

Must get my calendar straight. Too many dates I'm probably forgetting.

Skeins of yarn can be SO confusing. I've had several skeins that knit up so much differently than I thought they would.

But, that's the joy of knitting! You never quite know what you are going to get.

I do have a tip....When you are getting ready to wind the hank, lay it out on a table kind of smooth it out. Then you can get a better idea of how will look knitted up. Also, and I know you hate to here this, a gauge swatch can tell you alot. :)

You are right teacher. a swatch would tell all!

How to judge what colorways will look like knitted up? I usually take pot luck! Swatch? What's that?

MUST retire!! I say this every morning as my computer starts up and I start researching yet another tax problem.

I find it hard to tell with handpainted yarns. There to many variables such as the number of stitches and the pattern that is used.

I hope my nieces don't call me their old maid aunt. I didn't realize that that term was still used for unmarried elderly(?) women. You used to reach maid status if you reached thirty and weren't married and I'm 20 years past that.

I must catch up on some blog reading!

I agree with Karen - you learn a lot with swatching! But I rarely do it! ;)

I saw the chair at a landscaping garden center. THen I went on line and found it at Walmart....is that okay to say?

Beverly: I mean my old housekeeper, not my old maid! SOrry!

I can tell better when they are in a yarn cake rather than the skein, but you really never know. And so much depends on what you are making and how many stitches and even though the colors are exactly the same, a sock and a shawl will still look completely different.

Fireman just pointed out to me that they use tractor seats on American idol....
Why am I always late to the party?? At least I make it to the party!
