I never knew until I tried.....or until I tied.....

I ate this entire Mardi Gras cookie myself. I never knew how good the cookies were at the Swedish Bakery in Chicago on Clark until I tried them....have you tried a good cookie latelY?

I never knew how long a man's tie was until I knitted one. I am knitting Tracey Ullman's New School Tie for Zach. He wants it to go well with jeans.....I am trying to meet his wishes. Can you tie a tie? I cannot....but I do not try to tie ties either.....

I never knew how hard the couches are outside the surgical waiting room at our hospital until I tried to sleep on one,( whilst waiting for my father to get out of surgery yesterday. ) I tried and it tied my back and legs up in knots....

I never knew how tough an audience could be, until I wrote the article on" 25 ways to cut back on Housework "that appeared Saturday in the New edition of Ravelry. I tied myself up in knots worrying about it initially......I tried to let it just roll off my back....and now, I am trying to grow as a writer by simply reading the responses...and appreciating all the wonderful support that really predominates the responses for the most part.

Because if at first you don't succeed, try try again!

I knit a tie for one of my brothers-in-law several years ago. I don't even know if he used it. My mother was required to wear a tie as part of her high school uniform, so one day I asked her to teach me how to tie one. I haven't tried it in years, so I wonder. . .

Hope your dad is doing well, Kathy. I've never knit a tie but have sewn several (much quicker, I'm sure). I noticed that Ravelry article; now I'll have to go read it. LOL Have you ever had a King's cake? They're frosted with those same kind of scary colors.....

Kathy - you rock! I loved your article. I didn't know you wrote it - you sly fox. Don't worry about what people say. Some people take life too seriously. You were absolutely hilarious. When I really need to clean up my house, I invite people over. It's the only way to really get the job done. Keep up the great work.

I didn't read your article, I am ashamed to admit it, but I will rectify that immediately. I like the way the tie is coming out!!

I enjoyed your article - my house is never clean and yet I still struggle to find time to knit.... I must be doing something wrong!

And, while I understand that everyone has a different sense of humor, I would never have forseen your list starting an international debate on the efficiency (or lack there of) of dishwashers! :)

I hope you'll keep writing!

Loved your article on Ravelry! I already do a lot on your list - like, everyone takes off their shoes in our house, I never do housework unless someone is there to see it, the kids are starting to do a bit of their laundry and washing up...... etc, etc

I can tie a tie and a bow tie too. My son who's 8 can tie his own tie too! The joys of having to wear a school uniform.

I hope your father is doing well after surgery!! I love Zack's tie. What a great idea! I can't tie a man's tie but I can tie a bow tie that goes with a tuxedo. It's a talent that kept me busy at GD#2's wedding last summer and made me wonder what happened to those clip on thingys.

Thanks for your comments. I've always had a lot of interest but I usually practice them one at a time.

I have to admit I didn't read the article but I will as soon as I go on Ravelry and I know how to tie a tie. With 3 brothers it came with the territory.

Hope your dad is doing well.

Just read your article on Ravelry, which I thought was hilarious! I would ignore the few posts from people who don't have a sense of humor, there are always a few in any crowd.

Love the tie, I want to see a picture of it in use when you're done.
