Not my knitting....but isn't it lovely?

This is my friend Joan's current knitting. Joan has been knitting for many years. I love this raspberry color she chose. It is a wool but it feels soft and the stitch definition is wonderful. Joan's knitting is even isn't it? She was working on the shaping for the armholes on the BACk. She was having some trouble understanding the pattern instructions at one point. So I read it out loud to her and as soon as I did she got it. See? I can help others knit! If you need me to read the directions just let me know.
I did this a few weeks back for Karen who was helping a woman with her pattern pains; by reading it aloud, she instantly heard it differently and knew what to do.

I'm going to offer my services to you all. Just call me and I'll read you the directions you have been reading. Or ask your peeps to do it for you.

I am knitting something that i won't tell you about.
I will not let myself post if I switch to something else before it is done.
That is my promise.
It will work to motivate me....

So you won't be seeing any images of it....
but you know that never stops me from posting others knitting!
I talk more in the comments!

The structure in her work is a nice one... made several sweaters for the kids in the same structure.

we do auditory / visual learning exercises in tutoring all the time! Sometimes children who HATE math figure out that they just need to read the word problems out loud to themselves... never knew it applied to knitting as well!!!

looove the color :)

We can hire you to read patterns to us? I think you have hit on something here--a whole new business. Books on tape--patterns on tape--whole knitting books on tape. I love it!

Joan's sweater is beautiful and I can't wait to see your mystery project!

That quilted texture and color reminds me of some of the ornate jackets that Henry VIII wore. Project looks very regal.

Seriously, sometimes you just need to HEAR someone else say the words and they do make more sense.

I have any angora blend in nearly that color, but only about 150 yds., I think, with the same amount of the same yarn in a green grass color. I really want to knit with those two yarns this year. Must.find.pattern.

That looks lovely. Great pattern and colour.

I often find that just getting someone else to read/ look at a pattern, helps with getting a clearer picture. And it also feels good when you can help someone else with their knitting.

I do the same thing! If I read it aloud to someone, it suddenly will make sense! But I hate books on tape.
