Cabin fever post #1

*Everyone, and I mean everyone I meet says they are suffering from the weather blues. I am so glad to hear this. I certainly cannot stand the grey, drizzle much more. So it is not just me! And ....it is not just you!

*I have to show Helo again. My best shot of him yet. Kittens are so easy ........and entertaining. They are however, difficult to shoot because they are so rarely still.

*Thanks for all the ideas for my neighbor Abby's vest conundrum. You are all such smart women and man. ( I count Elaines' Tom in the equation. To my knowledge he is my sole reader and knitter with a y chromosome. ) and THANK YOU TOM. (well Zach counts too, but he hasn't knitted anything in over a year....)

*Abby is rethinking the whole project. I'll let you know what she decided. So many brave steekers out there.
Whaddayanuts? Actually I am so very impressed with steekers.

*I've started a pair of Simply Ginny Socks by Anna Peck. When there is enough progress I'll post a picture.
Again, I will not let myself post if I quit on this pair before they are finished. This somehow keeps me very motivated.

*I placed an order with Simply Socks Yarn company. I had to call the place. I love phone orders. Computer orders and I get all huffy with each other. The woman who helped me was very nice. They have some sportweight sock yarn in Best of Rainforest 09 that she says will sell out quickly. That is not what I bought, but if any of you are looking for that yarn, she has it.

*Finally, I hope the back fairy is going to visit me at work tonight. My back is better but I need to keep improving. Why do you leave the back fairy? Any ideas?

Helo is so cute but his eyes say "Let me up now or I'm going to be one mad kitty!" I'm checking Simply for Best of Rainforest. Hope she has some left! Hope the backfairy will be extra special good to you.

Kittens and toddler are both so adorable and so tricky to photograph. He is a doll and I wish I could pet him!

Glad to be of service. I enjoy the blog a lot, but almost never say anything. Being an engineer, I'm not used to being in the minority gender-wise.

Kathy, I ran across your blog today and I love it! And now I've caught the sock bug. I've never knit socks before. Can anyone suggest an easy sock pattern so I can get my toes wet? (eh, so to speak!) Is there a yarn you recommend? There are SO many choices, nice to have it narrowed down some, at least for my first pair! I'll check back. Thanks!

Back fairy?! No wonder I've had such a slow road to recovery. What DO you leave her?

Helo is darling...

You need to leave the back fairy a little teeny shawl like my crazy friend Lesley says. She's right! It can be a pretend shawl, but leave her one! She was helpful to me this weekend!!

Dear Lily W

I would suggest a simple pattern like
Knit One Crochet Too's Spring Hiking Socks pattern

The sock knitting books in the shape of a sock are really so specific and explanatory. They walk you through it row by row.

I had to take a class to learn, but I know others who could figure socks out themselves!

GOOD LUCK. let me know how you do.

Is there a back fairy? Does he/she help necks as well? What if I leave M&Ms under my pillow? Do you think that will help him/her to visit tonight?
