Are you a Fingerless Fan?

Al made these in the past two days, for a birthday gift. Cabled purple fingerless.

I love fingerless. I think it is because you can't run out and buy them very easily. They say, " I was handknitted baby, and I'm the real deal."
They show off a fine manicure. (Not that I've had one in a while. Too frugal to spend the money, but I am about to break down because of the old Chicago Cuticle Collapse that happens every winter)
You can fairisle them, cable them, or they can be plain and just as wonderful.
I know you have to make two, so there is some second fingerless syndrome,

But, in light of the current condition of my right arm, elbow, wrist, hand fingers, I just may make a splint cover. The cool purple straps I chose are nice, but imagine a fairisle fingerless splint cover. Or not. I'm suppose to rest this arm. So, as we used to say in college: let's not and say we did......

I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

I wear fingerless mitts all winter (my office is cold) and love them. Al's purple gloves are beautiful!! You definitely need a purple splint cover!
I have a pair of fingerless mitts and I love them...although one person did make some kind of hobo comment to me. Obviously a very deprived person.

I love them on other people - but haven't made or worn them myself. I love those purple ones.

Hope you're feeling better.

I think they say "I may need these fingers for really important work like picking up quarters, writing checks, using my keys or flipping off people who DON'T like my fingerless mitts" I LOVE fingerless!

They look so pretty to me, but when my hands are cold, my fingers are the coldest part so I haven't made them. I did have a pair of those mitten jobs that are essentially fingerless mitts with a flap. Actually my daughter had those too when she was little. Hey - that's what I'll do - make a pair of fingerless mitts with a flap. Then I can look trendy for all to see, but flip them over so that my fingers are warm when no one is there to admire them.

I've never gotten into the fingerless glove thing. I don't know why. I like them on other people. I see the appeal of knitting them. But I just don't see myself in them. Maybe I just need to make a pair and give it a try.

I've made and gifted them but don't have my own. Those look lovely. g

I started to wear fingerless mittens because of the pain in my wrist, in 2004. On cold days I wear the one on my right hand day and night - I only take it off in the shower, and when I am cooking. If I don't wear it, I can't use my hand at all for a week. So I have several... as I tend to leave them anywhere, but most are made out of sock yarn.

I love my one pair of fingerless gloves. It means you can still do stuff (pick up things for children, feed children, etc..) without having to take them off every time.
So pretty you do nice work they look so cozy:)Hugs Darcy

I love fingerless mitts and have a dozen patterns in my Ravelry queue... these are particularly stylish. I hadn't thought about getting a manicure til you pointed out how it would be highlighted by mitts:)

Gaylen and Nell

I'll be you'll love your own when you make them. They are kind of addictive. I had to make a few pair before I was willing to give any away! just like me...
