The Friendly Confines Contest

If we can have an earthquake and a cougar in the same week in Chicago, then perhaps we CAN have a Cub World Series this year. We won the World Series 100 years ago in 1908. I love Wrigley Field, otherwise known as the Friendly Confines. You can have a wonderful time there without winning the World Series. You can have a pretty darn good time here at Irisheyesknitters Confines too.

In fact, I host this blog and it means a pretty darn good time to me. Within these confines, I meet and enjoy you .

I'm giving away sock yarns. The Filatura Dicrosa Maxime yarn knits up into the cutest fairisle.
THe Plymouth Yarn Happy Feet superwash merino Wool with 10% nylon has no name so I'll call it Mixed Berry Pie.

Those who visit the friendly confines of Irisheyes pretty regularly will be in a seperate category. You know who you are! One of you will win your choice of those two yarns, two skeins of either, and some wild and fun additional goodies to be shown later.

Those who lurk or are new to the friendly confines of irisheyes get whichever sock yarn remains.

To enter, post a comment here on irisheyes. . Identify yourself as lurker or regular to my blog.
Then you must go to someone else's blog who generates less than 14 comments a day, and give them the thrill of a new comment. I'd love to know who you are supporting with those comments. You can mention my contest or not, it is up to you. I'm all for thrills that come around more than once in a hundred years......

Contest ends : April 30th.

I guess I'm a lurker having only commented once before. :-) I saw Happy Feet yarn in person today for the first time. How funny to see it on your blog just a few hours later!

Am I the first to comment? My name is Mary, I live in Tucson AZ. I know it gets to be 110 in the shade of the cactus and we don't wear socks in the summer time, but that is some beautiful yarn. I really enjoy your blog. I will post a comment on Sue McFarlands blog. She is also a friend..

Okay, so I'm a regular. And you give away the nicest yarn! I went to visit Danielle at GranniDani and left her a comment. And I don't think I've ever had that many comments!

OK - is it just sick that I'm jealous that we DID NOT feel the earthquake here in Minnesota! I'm a regular!!

I confess, I'm a lurker. But I'm glad I am because I read many of your entries and probably will become a regular. Love your pictures, especially your newly stashed sale yarn. I see a sign that says "reduced" and it's like a magnet.

And, BTW - how did you make a sock SO tiny ? ?

Brilliant! What a great way to share the love.

I am not going to bother to discuss my status. :P

I have the stash that ate Cleveland so don't enter me in the contest. :)

Did you feel the earthquake? Everyone's buzzing here today but I slept through it. Also, I'm extra fond of those meaningful dates for championships so I may have to root for the Cubs.

I am a new reader but will definatly be coming back.
The blog that I posted on is http://knit-eat-sleep.blogspot.com/ which I doesn't usually have more than 14 comments a day. I think there is one that has. Also my blog doesn't ever have more than 14 posts a day so go check it out.
You can find me on Ravelry where my ID is knittingpanda87. That is the best place to contact me if I win.

Well, my dear friend, I hope I'm counting in the "regular" group. :) What an awesome idea for a contest - I love that you are encouraging us to leave comments for others - you really are the most generous person. I think I'm going over to leave a comment for Knitting Panda. :)

Enjoy your weekend - and thanks for the heating pad tip. I'm gonna give it a try. (Think holding a hot cup of coffee to sip on will work too? LOL)

Friend Katherine here, chiming in to say--I love contests and I just l-o-o-o-v-e sock yarn! This is a great idea to get lurkers to poke their pretty little heads out! I'm going over to post on hookedonknitting.blogspot.com/. It's one of my favorite new blogs. She knits, crochets, and spins and has great photos. Thanks Kathy!

I'm new to your blog, but like it already! I am going to go post on www.hissyknit.blogspot.com. She's a fellow Georgia knitter and actually graduated from the college I go to! A funny blog; one that I check often but rarely comment (bad me).

I'm a newbie. Nice to meet you and your blog. :)

My friend's blog (page-jennifer.blogspot.com) is great, but she doesn't get over 14 comments/day. Off I go to check out her latest and greatest post...

Love Happy Feet. I have used it instead of Koigu Kpppm in projects. A bit more affordable.
I have commented before.

It has been a wild and crazy week here in the Chicago area.

I used to be a regular visitor, but life has intervened a lot recently. I'm back now, so I don't know how you should count me.

I'm posting a comment on http://amanda-knits.blogspot.com/.

And feel free to post on mine - I can't imagine getting 14 comments in one day.

i just came over to your blog via wiknit (which makes me a new reader). this contest idea is really sweet... i feel bad about saying "here is a blog who doesn't get many comments," so hopefully it is enough to promise you that i actually did comment on someone's blog. : )

Hey! I'm a long-time reader but first-time commenter. Wow- didn't realize how cheesy that sounded (should I say looked?) until I read it...
What beautiful sock yarn! My local LYS doesn't have much of a selection, just the basics (Sugar 'n Cream, Simply Soft, Red Heart, etc.). Actually, it can't really be counted as an LYS - it's Hobby Lobby. It's great, don't get me wrong, but how I dream of having an actual LYS!
BTW - I commented on another blog. Like someone else before me, I felt bad about saying that this certain blog doesn't get many posts, but have decided that maybe by saying so others will go and check it out and comment, too. =) So here it is:
http://loomydaze.wordpress.com/
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm going to post on Elaine's blog.

I think I would be considered a regular (I hope I would anyway). I don't get many comments, so if anyone would like to visit my blog and leave one, I would be thrilled. I off to search for someone as commentless as myself and hopefully give them a thrill.

I love this idea for a contest! What a nice way to get people out & about. And just so you know, if my guys can't do it AGAIN this year, I'm rooting for yours ... you all are due, and are carrying all of the karma we have so recently shed.

Thanks for your comment the other day about teaching being like the medical profession - that is a really interesting connection and it's absolutely right that the same entitlement issues come into play.

Thanks!

I'm new to you because of Lynne's great Special Swap! I'm so glad she linked us, though, because I love your wit and style. You are refreshing. :-) I am going to post a comment at http://www.knitandpray.blogspot.com/ I love Lana's sense of peace amidst the trial and strife that is so often prevalent in our world. About the Cubs ~ well, I'm sort of rooting for the Brewers, but my son is definitely in your corner!

I love lurking here, and have happily been doing so for some time. What a fun contest.

I've been lurking here for a long time although I'm not positive whether or not I've posted - I think I did when you had the great photo of the sock blockers with the dog's eyes (I guess they really were Irish Eyes) and maybe a couple of other times. But basically, I'm still stuck in junior high school and afraid that what I say will not be cool enough. And that's also why I don't blog myself (besides not having time).

Anyway, yours is one of my favorite blogs because there are always so many great photos, and a nice pleasant up-beat attitude.

I posted on Yearns for Yarn. She's getting up there with comments now.

Rachel O!

I had no idea someone amongst us is in jr. high. OH how wonderful of you to comment! Any comment you leave is welcome! Here's secret : there isn't any real cool in the world! Im reading Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharon Creech b/c my college daughter told me I'd love it. OH I DO! have you read it? The writer has a real gift.
I think you better win a prize anyhow. You do knit right?

OH NO!! I didn't mean that I was in junior high - I'm in college. I meant that I still behave like when I was in junior high - worrying about what I say because people will find out that I'm uncool.

I do know Sharon Creech, she's terrific, but don't know that book. I'll take a look for it - thanks.

It was terribly tempting not to own up to this since winning is surely wonderful, but, in the end, that's not fair (and my mother who reads your blog would kill me :-).

But I hope this doesn't mean that I can't win - I certainly didn't mean to mislead anyone.

I'll mention your contest today or tomorrow on my blog.
I also arrived via WiKnit: The Knitting Contest Blog and left my comment there as well, to congratulate her on her new Green Knitter website. Both are worth keeping track of. I've posted about your contest on my blog.
