Knitting Nonni's blanket WIP

I am making progress on my Nonni Patch blanket. I am still enthralled with it. I am not colorgifted. I stole the colors from Nonni's own 9 patch blanket. Thank you thank you Nonni.

I was in Mosaic Yarns in DesPlaines the other day. They were so nice. Darlene was giving me ways to improve my color choices. NO colorwheel stuff, just real life examples. THe previous post images of the sweater and children's dress were from Mosaics shop. I had my camera with me, as usual. Darlene suggested I find photographs or take photographs of things I find colorful. She said Alice Starmore did this with nature and color.
I liked her second idea even better. Find a skein with a colorway that amazes you, then find individual yarns from within that colorway and knit yourself silly. I plan to try this for my next project. Whatever that is!

Oh, and I have a blank wall in the kitchen! Sweet husband took down the decade old ivy wallpaper yesterday. I am delighted to have a blank wall! More blank wall images to follow.

have you had a blank wall recently?

I think your blanket strip is beautiful and love your color combos!
I'm not color gifted either - I just pulled out different balls, bits, skeins of yarn as I went along. It was all unplanned serendipty!

I've used choosing colors from a skein of varigated yarn method for hats and baby sweaters with great success. Have fun!

I like the idea of matching colors in variegated yarn, and will try it! Your blanket is going to be beautiful and so nice to snuggle under. Makes me wish for a decent winter in Texas!

Very pretty! I am using leftover yarn from various projects to knit squares, which I hope to piece into an afghan or throw some day...

The only thing that's been blank recently is my mind.

Your blanket is looking great.

I'm not color gifted either, but your blanket is coming together beautifully!

My color gifting is non-existent so I'm gonna try some of those suggestions. I like the one about choosing colors from within a favorite skein - but I have so many favorite skeins! The Noni blanket is delicious. I keep meaning to knit up my left overs, but, well, you know...
