Guest Blogger: Smokey the Bear

Our Guest blogger from the Northwoods, is Smokey the Bear. (of course) Did you know Smokey began campaigning in 1944 and is the oldest National campaign in the U.S.?

He was also a real little bear who was burned in a forest fire in New mexico. His mom died in the fire. (you thought Bambi was sad....) Rangers found him in a tree with badly burned paws. He needed veterinary attention and lived out his life at the National Zoo in Washington DC.
Smokey is a busy bear these days. Not too busy to be a guest blogger however. If you look closely you'll see my sock knitting in his paw.
Speaking of sock knitting, check out Karen from Conn sock drawer/basket. Karen is a great blogger. She helped me numerous times with irisheyes and created my blood donor button.

My buddy! Did you know that Smokey is an icon recognized by more people around the world than any other such figure except Santa?! DH, a long-time Forest Service employee told me that; Smokey is a revered hero around here.

Your Guest Bloggers are always the best - and Smokey is just as cool as all the others. :) Thanks for the shout-out and the kind words about my blog.
