Yes I'm still alive ...

So it's been WEEKS since I've been tagged - here goes ...
1. I have over 1000 books in my house and that's a conservative guess.
2. The book I just finished reading was Freakonomics - a very cool and quick read in which the authors (an economist and a writer) look at the world through the eyes of the economist i.e. using data and statistics to determine what really goes on in the world. Written in an entertaining and conversational style. Their motto is "morality tells us how the world SHOULD work; economics tells us how it DOES work".
I'm currently working my way through an Alfred Hitchcock collection of mysteries (my weakness), and the book Candy Freak by Steve Almond, which is very funny - he tells the story of his chocolate addiction and his study of the candy industry. (He also has a great description of the perfect love affair as being one in which lots of time is spent laying in bed together eating chocolate and having sex. So he's on my short-list of potential second husbands.)
3. The last book I bought is Collapse, by Jared Diamond. Haven't started it yet but it's a study of cultures that haven't survived and what they had in common. With some comment on our current state, I'm sure.
4. I don't have 5 favorite books, but I have favorites authors! So, anything by Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse (the Wooster & Jeeves series is the comfort food of literature for me), Edith Wharton or Wilkie Collins. I also really liked The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. He has a new book Blink, that I'm waiting for the softback version of. Oh, and Dickens is fun.
Aren't you sorry you asked?

Not sorry I tagged you at all. I am very interested in Freakanomics. Non-fiction fun for me! I love to see what my friends are reading. Thanks.
